Game Worn Jersey Auction

But have you seen the Trip to Dublin thread? That one is a close runner-up.

That is the most brilliant thread in a long time. But you have to study it in detail to capture the true essence.

Academics and Administration do not steal from Athletics, but go ahead and continue that myth. The two act as completely separate entities. Research brings in money that's spent on research funding, athletics brings in money that's spent on athletics. Breakdown is as follows:

GT Research brings in $700 million per year
GT Tuition brings in $300 million per year
GT Athletics brings in $65 million per year

This is very different than the balance at other schools:

uGA "Research" brings in $100 million per year
uGA Tuition brings in $300 million per year
uGA Athletics brings in $92 million per year

Alabama Research brings in $40 million per year
Alabama Tuition brings in $420 million per year
Alabama Athletics brings in $153 million per year

And yet, when Joe Pettit was hired as President of GT and promised an automobile as part of the deal, where did the "independent" powers that be turn to get a local dealer to provide the vehicle at no charge?

Biology Dept - no.
Architecture - no.
CE - nope.
Math Dept - don't think so.

Any dept on the Hill run &/or supervised by these brilliant, self righteous nerds? No again.

They went to the GTAA and asked them to approach one of their dealer contacts to fulfill that part of the deal their brilliance was incapable of doing, or they were to ööööing cheap to do on their own.

Independent the hell you say! The first 2 letters "In" are correct but the word ends with the letters "grates".

Sounds legit.

UGA's rich alums all stick close to home as good old boy lawyers and politicians. Tech's millionaires move off to where the tech centers are and lose whatever connection they had to GT athletics to begin with. I'm just a non-80k sidewalk fan, but that's always been my uneducated guess.

You're not far off from the truth. There's a lot of stupidity in GA. Glad I left.

cool story, bro

It is true, GT went to the GTAA to get a dealer to provide the car. So many of you have no concept of what has happened, good and bad. You only have your often elitist, and almost always childish view with no concept of history.

Where you even hatched then, or had you started sucking dwag dicks yet?

Regardless, if you are saying it did not happen, you are again lying.

We need some better fundraisers at GT. We have had 2 big purchases/donations made by individuals in the last ten years (McCamish Pavilion and the Indoor Practice Facility).

We should have access to the major GT research donors. The AD and his team need to ask for money aggressively.

all you have to do is see how some posters on here slam the AA and others slam the Hill. there is not a good relationship between the ivory tower and the marketers, based to a large extent on false perception, arrogance and brashness, despite the efforts of many along the years

i think that neither side has effectively been able to leverage the strengths of the other because of a lack of that relationship

Hey Bro, take a pill and go sit in a dark corner until your blood pressure goes down.

First, in all the years GT has been in business, and all the years we have had an athletic department, all you have is one example where the AD provided a car to the University president? That's all you got? Pretty weak.

Second, so what? The University President is President of the ENTIRE university, INCLUDING the Athletic Department. Have you ever heard of "institutional control"? Why is it less legit for the AD to provide a car than the Math Dept (for example). The AD has all the contacts, it would be stupid to ask another Dept to provide the Pres a car.

Now if your argument was the AD was asked to provide a car to the Head of the Math Dept, it might have at least a smidge of logic. As it is it sounds like the rantings of a mad man. Just sayin'.....

You mean the federal government?

You realize that the $700+MM going to research isn't a donation, right?

These are the only jerseys up for auction? Is Russell Athletic in charge of this?

Do you want them to fabricate game worn jerseys like the New York Giants do? In case you haven't noticed, we haven't had any games recently
