Gary Patterson is out at TCU after 20 years as coach of the Horned Frogs, the Big 12 school announced on Sunday night, a day after Patterson's team lost its third game in a row, a 31-12 decision at Kansas State.

Never know what could be going on. Burnout. Health problems. He should have plenty of wealth built. Maybe it is just time to go fishing.
 
I looked it up and they haven't been any good since 2017. Still would have thought he would have had more leash after 180 wins in 20 years, SIX top-10 finishes, and an undefeated season. I guess it really is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business.

Your last sentence nailed it. Just look at LSU. It's cutthroat.
 
What we have to understand here…. And I mean this fully: if Bobby Dodd or Bear Bryant coached at an SEC Power right now, they would be fired for their record in between great seasons. We’ve gotten that silly. I don’t understand this game. Patterson deserves a statue at TCU. Not this..

he reminds me of the old Maryland hoops coach Gary Willliams. both of them look(ed) like they are about to pop a vein in their head. intense. patterson is a good coach.

pretty sure he has a band too. musician.

They do have a statue of him at TCU. That doesn't prevent them from firing you.
 
His last four years have been

7–6 4–5 Cheez-It Bowl
5–7 3–6
6–4 5–4 Texas Bowl
3–5[c] 1–4

which are actually ok for TCU in a Power 5 conference. It's not good either, so I do understand deciding to part ways.
 
A&M going to the SEC hurt the other Texas Texas teams. The rise of small Texas schools hurt too.
 
I would love to get Patterson. If he's available, I'd rather have him than monken.

Funny thing is if Kirby starts to lose down the road, he'll be given the same treatment Richt got. However, " he ain't going to bama when Saban leaves" would be funny to throw at them if Alabama does go get him after Saban hangs it up.
