Gary Patterson out

Take a look at TCU's record before Patterson became DC in 1998 and then HFC.

It was godawful. Gary made TCU football. Now it will regress to its mean, but in a big boy conference.

Yeah. Unless he was done and wanted out, it makes little sense. They are having a bad season but the last few haven’t been bad. Lost a lot of close games 2 years ago and I think won 2 of the last 4 against Texas.

He has a lot of great seasons for them. They were good in the 60s but he will be their best coach from 1968-2038 (it would take that long for anyone to match his record)

This always works out well. Just look at VPI. Or Texas. Or UT. Or Nebraska. Or Maryland.

LSU is not comparable one bit. Oregeron had a lot of issues internally they were able to overlook while winning. He completely lost it after 2019 Cinderella season.

Absolutely comparable. With or w/o internal issues, LSU has always had high expectations. Yea, he completely lost his offense after that season and couldn't replicate so he's gone. Regardless if it was his choice, the writing was on the wall.

Friend in Dallas said in order to compete in the recruiting wars, he resorted to signing a few/many thugs, and that was his undoing. Lots of off the field issues.

Crazy. My impression of CGP is that of a genuine coach and leader of young men who had a principled view of what a coach should be. I would love him at GT but never thought we had a chance to land him.
Patterson is a "lifer" in Texas Coaching meaning that GT FB & the GTAA would never cheat enough to satisfy his demands.

He'd Recruit like the dickens among the elite local HS Talent, and then after that, he'd expect the Alums & Boosters to step in with Bags, Cars, and Jobs for relatives.

All those NFL studs that came out of TCU (think LT, the RB) didn't go to TCU because their Liberal Arts Programs was going to enrich their lives after they were done with FB.

"Leader of young men"?

Do you guys even understand CFB post 2000?

Guys like this are the FB version of Jerry Tarkanian without the NCAA spotlight, but if the NCAA did shine their light in his direction, watch out

I hope Deion isn’t using a play sheet with shades like that
The kick in the Nuts is that the Dallas Cowboys OC , that is in line for an NFL Job reached out to friggin TCU to become their HC, but when our Job opened up, not one NFL Coordinator reached out to us to inquire about our Job Opening.

BTW , TCU is about a $6million per year Job for the right candidate, folks in the Coaching Industry know we are a cheapskate outfit, which is why very few Agents & Coaches inquired when we had an opening.

What is with the love for Tony Elliott? He happened to be OC when Lawrence was at Clemson?
Elliot is a very Smart Guy that has had a lot more success than he has had failure, all Assts run into a stretch where they get a group of Players that just don't produce on Game Days.

Elliot got his degree in I.E. and everyone that has interacted with him thinks he's a really sharp, organized , efficient Guy that would make a great HC, they think he'd be a great delegator, Saban-model HC (can't guarantee Saban results, tho)

He was my first choice over CGC, but since we have CGC , I'm gonna back him until he makes it impossible for me to back him , at least through year5.

Elliot ran a play from the shotgun against us with seconds left in the game that led to a safety that could have led to a last play miracle win for us. All he needed to do was get his team under center and have his 240 lb QB bull forward and stay out of the end zone. That shotgun play alone disqualifies him, imo.

Yeah, that was an asinine call. In that situation, you line up and hard count. Take it all the way to a delay penalty if you have too. Do it a second time if you get a delay or false start penalty. When the defense relaxes, you snap it (under center) and have your GCG and QB get the yard you need.
