Geoff Collins Presser

Collins said Cimaglia is the guy from the 35 yard line and in. Stewart is the guy from the 35-45. No mention of any issues with the kicks other than Cimaglia slipped on one of them. Collins still has full confidence.

My take is that Cimaglia is probably going to be fine. He pulled one and slipped on the other, but he is a pretty good kicker. It looks like Stewart will try desperation long-range kicks because he apparently has a huge leg in practice. Of course, there is no one to block them in practice.

Cimaglia was better from 50+ than he was from 30-39 last year. He was terrible last year.

If you're bringing in a transfer kicker who had been the No. 1 dude at a SEC program ... why he is relegated to chip shots?
If he's the guy, he's the guy from extra points to kicking from midfield.
Cimaglia was good at UT. Maybe he needs a checkerboard pattern in the end zone to get his bearings right. Who knows?
But if he's not going to be the guy when you need a 48-yarder to win, tie or seal a game .. then what the hell are we doing?

Not chip shots. Cimaglia will kick from the 35 yard line and in, so a 52 yard field goal or less. Stewart will try from beyond that, though I doubt we would try many, other than the desperation types we just did. Not uncommon to have your regular kicker and a purely "distance" guy when you just want to take a long shot at points.

OK, so a LOS of 35 and in. I was thinking spot of kick from 35.

Sorry, I don't feel like wading through 3 days of posts to find something on the topic. But has there been any discussion about going 0/3 on field goal attempts? I thought the new guy was supposed to be good from 50 yards, and just one FG would have changed the outcome. Were there bad snaps or bad holds, or any blocks?

As others have said, first kick just hooked out at the last second. Second one he slipped on the turf and fell down, so the ball barely made it to the end zone. Third was a different kicker for a Hail Mary and it was blocked behind the line.

It’s a hell of a bad stat line for a team that needs to turn around special teams play, but it wasn’t quite as bad as the stats appear.

Last year IIRC, we had problem with the snap and the hold on FG's. Is there any chance that that problem still exists. Wasn't his last kick actually into the back of a defender and not actually blocked?

Georgia Tech may not have a great coach in Geoff Collins, but at least he is a good human being. He really cares about his players, and he is not deterred from the vision and goals that he has for the team. We just need to decide as fans that we are going to be all in and support the team, regardless of what the rest of the season looks like. The players don't need to see all this negativity and pessimism--at least save it until the end of the season. It's gonna be a long year otherwise...
Our preacher feels the same way. Some get asked to come back, some don’t.

Saturday was the epitome of “Murphy’s Law”. Everything that could have possibly gone wrong, did.

Except the fumble scoop-and-score got called back and the muffed punt was saved by a formation penalty. Those don't go our way and its a lot worse.

First FG, he pulled. Could have been nerves. Second FG he slipped. Unfortunate, but sometimes one bad kick leads to another. Kickers need to have a short memory.

Third FG was absurd. It was a 60 yard kick. It would have been good at maybe 50-51. That is a n the coach not knowing his kickers range.

We would have been better throwing a Hail Mary to one of our 6’3” receivers. Or trying to drop a 10 yard pass to Gibbs.

Just have Cochran sprint to the endzone and use his 6'7" frame to box everybody out haha
