Geoff Collins will not retain any assistants

I don't feel bad for the assistants, it comes with the industry. In fact, we've had one of the most stable coaching positions in all of college football. There's only a handful of active names who have coached longer at the same school.

Wow. No continuity at all.
Alright, he's really putting his stamp on the program.
Hey, If CGC thinks overhauling the whole thing with new faces is the way to go, so be it.
Gonna be a fun ride.....

This is pretty common. Sometimes coaches keep an assistant or two, but usually not more than that. And it doesn't always work out when they do keep core members. Look at what's happened to VPI's defense.

I like Coach Mac, but you've got to figure that anyone Collins brings in is going to recruit just as well as he did. Besides, it's kind of hard to justify keeping anyone from the defensive staff, given the results over the years.

Best of luck to all of them. Hope they land good gigs.

I'm not completely surprised by this, but surprised that it would be released prior to signing day. Maybe he told all the recruits that there would be a whole new staff, but I don't see how he could do that with these guys out there helping him recruit still.

Can we retain Sewak until we can make him do the game of thrones walk of shame down Yellow Jacket alley, with fans on both sides throwing shit at him, and then fire him at the end?

Just a guess but maybe his replacement at Temple is hiring/firing folks and he (CGC) needed to hire his guys or risk them moving elsewhere.

But then he might light the wildfire under the Edge Building.

Can we get together a list of potential guys with idiotic spellings of their name to focus on here

here's my first choice, and he's already a Yellow Jacket:

Owens was a good recruiter. His area included Jacksonville and we've gotten some good players out of there. That's a fertile recruiting area (two of Da U's starting linebackers against us this year were from Jacksonville area, I think), so somebody might snap him up just to have those contacts.
Coach McCollum is very well liked and respected in the coaching community, both high school and college. Only met him once or twice, but he is extremely likable and personable.
I know Sewak gets a lot of grief on here but I've known Mike a long time and he's been good with me when I needed his time. He had a pretty good record as a head coach at Southern. Some friends of mine got to know his wife when they were in Statesboro and spoke highly of the Sewaks.

If they have any sense, they've been reaching out to contacts in the industry since Johnson announced--and assuming they weren't blindsided by his announcement, probably sooner.
Yep, you're right and this is more than normal when a new coach comes in. I'm sure they expected it.

I tried not to go there

In the world of exploding coaches salaries these guys will all make a lot more money elsewhere than they were making at GT when they land their next job...assuming they are good enough to coach D1 football.

These guys will be in great shape...if they are good coaches and recruiters.
