George Godsey for OC

I’d have to think of it were a possibility it would have been offered initially. I also think there needs to be a balance of “GT” guys and new blood on the staff.

Was watching the Jags-Fins game and was pleasantly surprised to find out he is Miami's Co-OC.

Have to believe he would do a better job than Patenaude.
Do much daytime Dreaming?

Once you get to the OC Level at the NFL, you wait for an NFL HC Job or a P5 HC Job.

The fact that he has spent so much time in the NFL Means he's likely the "mad scientist type" a guy that wants to stay in a dark room scheming out Plays rather than spending time on the Road Recruiting and spending time being the Lead PR Man - HC - Public Face of a Major College FB Program.

Almost no one goes from NFL OC and drops down to College OC at a place like GT, they do it at Bama cause they know they'll coach the Best Players and they can quickly resurrect their Career and end up HC at Texas (Sarkisian), or in another HC - Job Kiffin at Olé Miss. -- GT doesn't possess that kind of leverage.

We have a Guy that loves all that schtick, just give him time to get his Players.

Yeah, nothing points to him being interested in returning to the college ranks. And honestly, while I love Godsey, there's a long list of guys I'd take over him at OC.

What we need is Godsey running back to help with offseason camps and advising players who want to go pro.

You could probably take a collection and get the $750K from Dolphins fans to take him off their hands.

Probably have a better shot at getting a couple years out of Ken Whisenhunt than we do Godsey if we want to go the former GT player who is an OC route. Not advocating that route, and Whisenhunt would probably want to be HC instead of the OC.

I don't get the appeal of Whisenhunt other than 40 year old memories of him playing at GT.

He would certainly be a better play caller than Pantenaude . The average 14-year-old that plays Xbox madden NFL would too. But that would be a big step down from Godsey. He knows how hard it is to recruit at Georgia Tech. He doesn’t have that problem in the NFL. Won’t happen.
Ken Whisenhunt is not leaving The NFL to come coach at a college that is hard to recruit and keep planners eligible, either. Has anyone ever gone from an NFL job to Georgia Tech?

He is currently the OC at Miami, not sure he would take a pay cut to come to GT as OC, as HC maybe. But until the Donors are done with Coach Collins nothing is going to happen.

1) He would have to have some interest. Most guys that have been in the NFL as long as he has, want to retire in the NFL

2) Does he have a connection to Collins? I think that would be needed to get him at GT.

3) It would do a couple of things: help recruiting because of the NFL angle, especially QB. Why would a QB choose to play for Dave?

4) I assume he would only do it because of some personal connection to GT or he thought it would help him get a HC job.

Tech men again. *sigh*. Hardly any of us would know who he is if he wasn't a Tech legend. He has had a solid coaching career in the sense that he has been continuously employed, but he basically bounces around from position coach to OC and back again. I wouldn't be mad if he came back, but his career trajectory doesn't put him on any wish list, either.

Give it a rest, whiney boy.
