George Godsey for OC

Tech men again. *sigh*. Hardly any of us would know who he is if he wasn't a Tech legend. He has had a solid coaching career in the sense that he has been continuously employed, but he basically bounces around from position coach to OC and back again. I wouldn't be mad if he came back, but his career trajectory doesn't put him on any wish list, either.
So who IS on your wish list? Are any of them realistic?

A large contingent of the Tech fan base makes me sick. Every coaching candidate falls into one of two categories:

1) He's way too good for us; he'd never come here.

2) He sucks and I don't want him.

Bunch of incels who can't get a woman because they're all either too good for them or too ugly for them. And you would never join a club which would have you as a member.

What about “we can’t pay him enough to come”?

Don't have one. I think it's more important to get a functioning O-line that might make even Patenaude look competent.
Pretty much. If we had Pitt's OL and DL with the depth they have, we'd look a hell of a lot better.

I don't get the appeal of Whisenhunt other than 40 year old memories of him playing at GT.

Basically same appeal as George Godsey, except he was a little more successful as a NFL OC; which is why he got an opportunity at NFL HC. He also has a Super Bowl ring. He would sort of be Chan Gailey 2.0.

He would certainly be a better play caller than Pantenaude . The average 14-year-old that plays Xbox madden NFL would too. But that would be a big step down from Godsey. He knows how hard it is to recruit at Georgia Tech. He doesn’t have that problem in the NFL. Won’t happen.
Ken Whisenhunt is not leaving The NFL to come coach at a college that is hard to recruit and keep planners eligible, either. Has anyone ever gone from an NFL job to Georgia Tech?

Is Ken Whisenhunt currently in the NFL? Can't leave the NFL if you aren't in the NFL.

There have been a few that went directly from an NFL job to GT. Chan Gailey, who has already been pointed out. George O'leary who came from the San Diego Chargers to be GT's DC. Ralph Friedgen left the NFL to be our OC. There have been others, but I am too lazy to look them up.

Ah yes!

Yet another GT Fan that believes in the "Magical Playcall Fairy", a mythical character that when employed on the GT sidelines can call Plays that will make our OLine look like World-beaters and successfully complete all their assignments and this alone (the MPCF) will make the Plays work.

Think of the smartest play caller on any level of FB, NFL included, imagine him being employed by GT FB for the last 12 Months.

We would still have the same 3-3 Record, because there are no playcalls that can scheme around poor OL play.

The previous GT HC poisoned our fanbase into thinking that "adjustments & playcalling" are some sort of magical elixir that can be sprinkled on our players and they will miraculously play better.

The rules changed limiting low contact blocking to players that are in the "Tackle Box" at the snap of the Ball, so all those small A-Backs and unpolished WRs that he Recruited and kept recruiting would have been much less effective under the new Rules, so while he might not have lost to NIL we very well might still be 3-3 or worse due to much worse Recruiting, No Portal influx, with Yates running 25 QB Keepers every Game.

Every Coach has plays that they wish they had called differently, but no coordinator can call plays or schemes that can make up for poor play at the LoS.

The only thing our Fans should be demanding is Playing the younger OLs from the last 2 Recruiting Classes to see if they can give us a spark in our OL play.

Until the OL Plays better , I give PNode a longer leash than most around here that watch a Game and all they know is to blame the QB , then blame the OC while not attempting to find out WHY things aren't working.

Whisenhunt said "no thanks" to the head coaching job, already. If a change at OC happens, I'd hope our pool of candidates would be a lot bigger than the same handful of Tech-connected guys who always get brought up.

I'd hope Margot Robbie would give me oral. But I'm not counting on it.

You’re dating yourself TJ. Gomer was the last one and that was only 14 years ago.

For you KS fans, Gomer is 69. Maybe he’d like to come back and go out on top this time?

Ken probably thought he would get another NFL HC job back whenever that happened...but I don't see him or Godsey coming here as a OC.

That’s why our board motto is: Stingtalk - We don’t want you here.

So every week we hold an Xbox madden competition and we give the winner a $100 and they get to call the plays on Saturday.

That was obviously tongue in cheek.

but the red zone calling is abysmal.

there are two special players in the offense, Gibbs and Sims.

ironically, an option play between Sims and Gibbs I think would work well. The other underutilized play is a bubble screen to Gibbs in the open field. But you have to get those two players involved.

Lol. Identical play calling gets to 3-3. Better play calling wins NIU and Clemson. Worse play calling loses Duke and UNC.

I am beginning to think that CDP playcalls aren’t so much bad as they are predictable based on personnel and formation. That, and our OL and QB seem out of sync about 15% of the time. I will chalk that one up to young QBs and an OL made up of too many transfers.

He may be available pretty soon. The Dolphins are 1-5 with and just lost to Jacksonville

McGowan is probably up there with those two
