Georgia State to play Alabama in 2010....

Bill Curry scored one of the biggest upsets in college football history when he knocked off the number one team in the nation with a team that won one game in two years.

The year: 1981
Bill Curry's team: Georgia Tech
The opponent: #1 Alabama

No no no, GSU is playing Bama in 2011, Georgia State is playing them in 2010. ;)

Yellow fever....hahaha....I guess that will be the biggest battle over the years between GSU and GSU...who really earns the right.

Should be fun. However.....I have old gold and white running through these veins....but I'll still support my school as long as they don't play GT.

Burdell, I don't doubt Curry it just seems like a big challenge. I think Ga State will pretty much rule our conference off the bat just because no other school in our conference recruits from GA and we all know GA is where it's at.

Ga State is playing in the CAA? That is the strongest conference in the FCS. Expect a losing season for at best one year. Other than GSU and App State winning the national championships this decade, it has been a team from the CAA (formerly A-10)

Ah....Thanks for the info Yellow Fever....wasn't aware that the CAA was that good. Hmm....I need to research......GT football is all I know....

apparently georgia southern is older than georgia state, too bad they didn't register the domain name when they were found over 100 years ago :P

For me GSU refers to Georgia State but I am biased by living in Atlanta.

I know in the world of academia GSU will always be Georgia State. On the football field, I will continue to refer to GSU as Georgia Southern. Until State has a winning record against us, or best our 6 National Titles I will continue to think this way.

For good reason. On the football field, Ga State will have to earn it.

As a GSU student... I am glad to see that GSU is taking up the challenge is their first year....but man are we going to get creamed :ugh:.....So much for the SEC scheduling the biggest and baddest of them all in OOC.

GSU plays them @ Bama on November 20.

I dont know if they are taking up the challenge or taking up the paycheck for the program

If Ga St were smart, they would not join a conference yet. They should schedule every SEC school they can for the next 3 years. Toss in FSU, OSU, and Michigan on top of that. They would go 0-fer, but would bank huge money.

They until 2012 until the start in the CAA officially, so they are independent for 2 years. Maybe that's what they'll do...who knows. Bill Curry has already said he want to start out winning so my guess is they probably won't do that. They'll play cupcake teams for two years to get the winning mentality, rather than money for losing. GSU is banking on getting fans to the games by winning, not losing and making their money that way. If they played SEC and equally hard teams they would make money in the short run, but the alumni and students would deem it a failure and the program would take years to recover so it's bad for the program if they want to acheive economies of scale.

the way FSU is headed and the current disarray in Ann Arbor might make for closer games than you think... :laugher:

It won't matter what Ga.Stae does .
Football will be a complete disaster .

Hope you are correct, buzzman.

That universtiy downtown still has a lot of nerve, for they are in reality the Ga Tech evening school of commerce.
