Georgia Tech’s Geoff Collins experiment needs to end

Hell he did it again at half today

Today made sense. Many teams will not try to drive 80 yards in 25 seconds at the end of the first half, especially when their offense hasn't been working and they get the ball to start the second.

What made the Clemson one so bad was that they still had to punt, AND he asked for a 10 second run-off to give us even less time! What if the kicker shanked it? What if we blocked it or made a great return? You're giving up before you even know where you'll get the ball? While you're still very much in the game against a top 5 team?!

It was inexplicable. Even the ref looks confused when announcing it. I've literally never seen a more scared decision in all the time I've watched football, and I'm using the word "literally" very literally.

It didn't make sense today because he had 3 timeouts.. he could have used one before they kicked to give us more time .. 25 seconds with 3 timeouts is enough to get a couple plays and a field goal... Plus they rushed to get 2 running plays in why? Just to get Sims hit again?

?

They didn't kick. We interecepted the ball at our own 14 yard line with 24 seconds left.

For what it's worth, I agree we should've just taken a knee rather than rush the ball and risking injury. But you seem to making the situation out to be worse than it was.

I almost screamed when they ran Sims as the last play of the first half - no one in their right mind runs the QB in that situation - no one.

I watched loser ex-Gamecock HC Brad Scott take 3 knees at midfield to run out the 1st half clock in 1997 at Athens, down 17-0 or something. He got fired a month or 2 later. That's the only one worse than this.
