We obviously don't have the talent we thought we had. Last year we went 7-5 with a team that returned almost everyone from the 9-2 team. This year we went 7-5 and are missing alot of those players that were supposed to be a top ten team. How can ANY of you expect another 9-2 team?????? This isn't Gailey's fault. He was hired into a tough situation; dealt with numerous injuries and lost the starting QB, TB, and best WR in GT history due to graduation; not to mention all the injuries this year. And all of you wonder why our offense is stagnent? This is not Gailey's fault. Yes he has made some bad decisions during games; but that comes with the territory. Look at Coach Richt last year?????? Gailey will learn from this year and come back better prepared and ready for next year. Instead of complaining support the team; give the man time; and lets see what he can do. It is obvious the players like him and they DO play hard out there. Get off his back and give him a chance. Negativity only hurts.

This program has come a long way since 94. It WILL NOT go back to being that bad. We will improve. It won't happen overnight. The Friedgen phenomenon happens once every 20 years. Just give the man a chance.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I agree with giving CG a chance. I agree with not firing him. I agree that he inherited a mess at times this year with all the injuries.

Please keep in mind that at some point though, Gailey will have to assert himself as the unquestioned leader of this program. He got a freebie from me this year. However, I was not pleased with what I saw on the field at times. In some games, we showed a lack of competitiveness. In just about every game, our offense was out of synch. I think Chan needs to sit down with his offensive coaches and really sort some things out. We've got a terrible QB situation and (IMO) we've got a play-calling problem. Our WR corps didn't live up to expectations, IMO. Some coaches' jobs might need to be re-assigned. Some guys might need their walking papers.

It's time for Chan to assert himself with this program.

Talent has nothing to do with it.

It has to do with his awful coaching decisions this year and lack of motivation this team seems to has.

Please don't compare Gailey to Richt...
hmmm Richt who had never been a head coach inherited 2 true freshman QB's and alot of young players on 'D' ... redshirted one of the Qb's while the other goes on to be SEC freshman of the year...
Gailey, an experienced HC at many levels, inherits a QB with SEC experience and one year of studying the GT playbook, and a redshirt freshman QB also with a year to 'study' the playbook... The 1st team QB throws more int's than TD's and in the 13th game of the season more interceptions than completions... and the redshirt freshman has barely 60 minutes game experience at the conclusion of 13 games...
I only wish that TECH had the same problems that UGag had at the conclusion of Richt's first season... UGag was moving forward at the end of their season while I've not seen one bit of improvement in our 'O' this season...
If you are saying that the return of Hollings will mark a drastic improvement in our 'O' next year than you are making my point... I dare you to boast that AJ or D'Bo now have a year of experience and so the 'O' will be so much improved next season... that's the point... our QB's progressed not at all this season... win or lose there has to be a learning curve that moves up and there was none...
Sorry looks sometimes are not deceiving...

Ask yourself this question: Is our coach better than Georgia's coach? If the answer is "no", then do we have a chance to beat the dawgs, with all their recruiting advantages? If you can imagine Chan Gailey being a better coach than Richt, then sit back, relax, and wait several years for Chan to close the gap, and then blow past the dogs. Now, me, I cannot conjure-up such a scenario in my admittedly limited imagination. So what I propose is that we go out and try to find a coach better than Richt. Chan is not that man, IMHO.

Like other posters I have seen here I will never get off of Gailey's back. I do not dislike him or the staff in particular. I do dislike the COMPLETE LACK OF MOTIVATION AND DISCIPLINE BY THE PLAYERS AND THE COACHES!!!! This is a direct reflection on the head coach.
I would be happy with this season's record if I saw the team giving a good effort. The field is the last place this team wanted to be since the middle of the season.
Chan Gailey is not able to get a team prepared and motivated to play and he is too far into his coaching career to suddenly get this skill so don't look for it to change next year.
I hope I am DEAD WRONG but we will not be more than a .500 team with Gailey at the helm. Gailey is a bad mix of Bill Lewis and Bill Curry.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I don't get it. You don't think the players try? Wasn't there an article just the other day about our players saying they like Coach and they try extra hard for him? I believe it was Muyres who said that. I would rather trust a players opinion about HIS team than YOUR opinion about what you do/don't see.

I agree with Bugboy. Chan deserves a chance to right the ship, but he does need to assert himself better as the leader of this program.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">PM,

Didn't we beat 2 very good teams after the middle of the season (UVA and NC State)? We also played a very talented FSU team absolutely to the wall. I think lack of motivation only showed up in one game (UGA, inexplicably). Even against Maryland, we played well for a half and then they made adjustments better than us and blew us away. Otherwise, I thought the team played pretty hard...we played hard against Fresno State as well, but it's hard to overcome 7 interceptions.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">PMGOLD.. I felt the exact same way LAST YEAR !! but dont remember ANYONE calling for GOL's head.. nor do I recall it after the debacle in the Peach Bowl... Like you, I dont like what I am seeing, but Gailey deserves the chance to get the job done.. there is no doubt in my mind if this had been last years staff.. we would have finished 5-7 at best ...

Hey Bugboy and 33,

If we played every game with intensity we had during the NCST and Uva game we would have had a better record. Maybe I am mistaking lack of effort with lack of preparation but I do know I see the same type of lets just get off the field attitude that was prevalent with Lewis and Curry's teams.
I know the players try hard on the on an individual basis like Jeremy. But effort also applies to being mentally ready to play. Which is what I am saying. The coaching staff is not getting the players ready to perform.

Ask your self this: what self-respecting coach with an atom of coaching ability would want to come to a program that fires the HC after one (winning) season?

As of right now, we're not exactly a 1st tier team.

Had to quote this because he is right about talent level and motivation. I just want to add two points,

1. Motivation is everything. Whatever you do, do not underachieve. That costs you your friends.

2. There is little discussion of academic performance, and we were in a bad way there over the recent years. Personally, I would rather be 7-5 with stellar academics than 9-3 with a bunch of criminals, like many of the more highly ranked programs. There are many things that make me proud of Tech, and the smarts part is about the most precious.

Finally, a Techie that shows class in standing behind "our" coach! Coach Gailey is "our" coach and I am so fed up with others calling for his firing. You are entitled to your opinins, but I am entitled to mine....
and I DON'T CARE how many years you have been a season ticket holder.....

I'm not calling for Gailey's dismissal I'm calling for changes and not just on the field of play...
I posted after the UGag game numerous areas off the field where coach Gailey failed this season... many of them have a direct corelation (sp) to discipline... I don't mind learning curves... in fact college football is all about the learning curve and I love to watch the progress... there was no curve this season this team flat-lined... the UVA and NCSt. games were SADLY out of character for this years team...
I will allow Gailey one more season to improve first) the off field discipline of the team
and secondly) the on field performance...
