Why is it, that when GOL was in charge we had a awesome offense and a lousy defense, while he was a former Defensive Coordinator, and yet, with CG, a former Offensive Coordinator, we have a stud defense and a lousy offense? Seem backwards to anyone else?

It's not a coincidence. O'Leary hired a top mind to run the offense and let him do his job, while using inexperienced proteges (Huxtable, Roof) to run the defense. Gailey has a top mind running the defense with free reign, while his inexperienced protege learns on the job with our offense.

Our best year as a defense under O'Leary was when an outsider with credentials was brought in to run the defense (Randy Edsall). Gailey should have done the same for the offense.

Tennessee's offense under Cutcliffe and Auburn's offense under Borges got better overnight. Notre Dame went from #81 in Total Offense to #10 in one season after Weis took over. College football is more about coaching than any other single factor - and so far our offense under Gailey has not been very well coached.
