Ramblinwise,

I was in school from 1969 to 1973 and don't ever remember gold on gold. I went to every home game and many away games. My memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I think I'd remember that!!

Also in 1970 we beat the pups in Athens 17-7, IIRC. The next year we lost the game on Thanksgiving night when Jimmy Poulos scored late.

'70s the year we beat the Dawgs for second year in a row and won the Sun Bowl. In '71 we led the game on Thanksgiving night until the end when the SEC refs stole it from us. Gary Faulkner nearly put 2 or 3 Dawgs out of that game single handedly.

Our colors are White and Gold primarily...

BUT

Gold is one of our colors and should definatly bee worn as far as jerseys are concerned. If we are going to wear all gold, we must have white helmets.

BUT

All colored uniforms kind of look like High School uniforms. Sure, it adds variety BUT we are a traditional school.

BUT

If Wake Forest is trying to get us out of white and think it has something to do with our winning, I say we dress in gold right down to our socks and beat the slop out of them anyway.

AND

If Florida State decides to dawn the all Garnet against us in Atlanta, I say we all wear white and dress the team in white jerseys and pants.

ramblinwise1,

I'm glad someone other than me remembers what a hitter Gary Faulkner was. GF was absolutely one of the hardest hitters I have ever seen in a college uniform. I have had that discussion with DeepSnap over on the Hive and he agrees. I have often wondered what Gary ended up doing - he was a beast out there. Thanks for the memories.

Saw Gary Faulkner at a gas station in Milledgeville about 15 years ago. He had a small construction business. Did a lot of work around Lake Sinclair.
