GOOD NEWS!!!!

Yeah.. It's on buzzoff already.. They have someone on the Insiders board.. I think it's bh.

The athletic board of trustees would have to approve an extension. That has not happened. Go get your rumors from a real source.

Re: That Gailey got a 5 year extension.***

I don't buy it, if the board met it was an emergency meeting. This makes absolutely no sense at all if it happened, but if it did, that would be about par for the course lately. I need a drink...

Five years for anyone other than Bill Belichick seems like a bad deal for GT. I really don't understand why the extension would be so long. I could see 3, but FIVE?!?!?!?

You might as well red if you're not going to support this program now that a decision has been made.

Ah,...there they go. You don't like coach Gailey = you must be a mutt. Brilliant analysis. Idiot.

Why exactly when you, 3rdGen, make a total douchebag comment like I'll wear black and someone responds with a comment like you're a traitor are they automatically an idiot?

You're either with us or against us...part of the solution or part of the problem...And I don't think acting like Georgia Tech football is dead is exactly part of the solution.

Maybe everyone but you, 3rdGen, should wear black...To signify another Jacket Fan Lost...Probably to the Dogs

Personally, I will wait to see what organizational changes happen with this news before I feel one way or another about the extension.

However, did you expect that everyone would be behind this news the way the season has unrolled? For the life of me, I don't get why some posters feel that someone of the opposite opinion is an enemy to Ga. Tech.
Actually I do, but it has nothing to do with Tech football. Its all about the dynamics of a discussion board.

Anyway, if I see this guy wearing a black arm band at the uga game, I will at least know who he is as long as thousands of other dissenters have not joined him.
What I am more worried about is lack of support turning into a drop in contribution and season ticket sales. I would rather have unhappy fans versus a reduction in fans. I don't believe everyone feels that way. Even slight apathy would be disastrous

I certainly think there is much more to learn about this extension. It will come out in time.

thats exactly the reason i dont post much here. im a huge Tech fan. i have loved this team since childhood. but if i dont agree with the direction the program is taking, im branded as a traitor even though im at every game and have persuaded two, possibly three more people to buy season tickets as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

for my opinion... this is the dumbest coaching decision ive seen this year. 3 losses already and hes going into 2 games that have a very good chance of leaving us with 5 losses on the year... and youre giving him an extension?!?!

So you think he should be fired because of two games you think he will lose? Or not make a decision until the season and leave our recruits and potentials in limbo for another 3 weeks?

if i was forced to make a decision today he would be gone. he just doesnt have the track record to stay or extend. the chances of beating Miami are slim. ill be screaming at the TV with the rest of you, but lets face it... we havent been playing the kind of football lately that you would need to play to beat the #3 team in the land. he's winless versus UGA, so why should you give him the benefit of a doubt this year?

youre gonna have some rebuilding when you hire a new coach anyway, so losing some recruits this year is a price youll have to pay.

in the words of Van Wilders Dad... "Sometimes you have to realize a bad investment and cut your losses."

as far as pending recruits , yes you might lose a few. however, any coach you would bring in worth his salt would have made some contacts wherever he is located and could bring them in. it would be a wash , anyway i dont see us setting the world on fire recruiting the past 4 years.
