Grade the team:

Offense:C, Although we moved the ball well, we could not finish the drill when we needed to in the red zone and this game, after all, is about points.

Defense: A-, Other than the big pass play, great game. Holding anyone to 150 yards is great and only 17 on the ground... ZOMG!

Special teams: D, no missed extra points and the 2 touchback kick offs keep it from being an F.

Coaching: A-, back to basics on offense, the 4-3-4 looked waaay better than the 5-2-4, changing kickers showed the coaches were aware of the game. Only real complaint is to try and go outside on the runs from the 5 yard line.

Overall: B-, although we dominated, this game is about points and finishing the drill, which we failed to do too many times.

Refs: ACC, translation, FAILURE!

Not fair to give the Offense a C and the Defense an A-. They really ought to be considered as a unit. Our offense held the ball for 42 minutes, wearing out the UNC defense while our defense rested and played fresh for only 18 minutes.

Special teams still gets a F on my pad. I agree with the rest.

The Dwyer draw play was money today. Is it new? I don't recall seeing this one before.

Offense: B
Defense: B
Special Teams: D
Coaching: A-
Overall: B

Speaking of Dwyer, he took a real hard hit on the shoulder near the first of the game and played hurt the rest of the game. The pros are gonna love him for that.

Offense: B (Red Zone offense: C)
Defense: A- (Long TD pass in 4th quarter was really the only low point)
Special Teams: C (Scott Blair: D-)
Coaching: A (Back to basics, replacing Blair with Tanner, and sticking up for our guys getting screwed)
Overall effort: B+

Disagree here. Three reasons:

- We should've had 31 points if the field goal unit holds up their end of the deal. 31 points on UNC is a lot.

- You cannot underestimate the importance of TOP. We had the ball for over 42 minutes. Our defense looks a lot better when we give them that kind of time to rest with long, brutal drives.

- I realize yardage doesn't go on the scoreboard, but 300+ rushing yards is better than a C.

I'd give us a B, B- at worst. I can't believe 24 points, no turnovers is just a C. What would you call an A? 85 points?

You're right. I didn't consider the fact that the O kept the ball for so long and that really was a HUGE factor. I think, eventually, Butch Davis would have figured to just pass long. Maybe make offense a B-? I just didn't like the fact that we couldn't punch it in in the redzone.

CPJ didn't like it either. That was really bad. Yeah, B or B-.

You guys grade like a Tech Calculus teacher!!!

We just blew out a top 25 team and you think we gave a B or a C effort??? If we play like we did today we will win ten games! Damn! The missed field goals were awful, but let's be happy with a great effort!

Geori, you have to admit we sucked in the red zone and our kicking was absolutely terrible. Blair is so inconsistent, and we could have blown out this game by a lot.

We played well but UNC is pretty bad. We still missed many blocks that could have led to much bigger yardage. I definitely wouldn't give the offense an A or A- this game...probably a B. Definitely better blocking than previous games.

Defense obviously I think you have to give an A to, but that's again really helped out by the fact that UNC sucks. Not saying it wasn't a great effort, but I don't see this as an indicator that we'll win 10 games.

Special teams...F. Terrible. Yes there were two kickoffs out of the endzone but just because you answer two questions right on a test doesn't mean you don't fail.

Since when did UNC become Duke?

Those red zone problems come from when a good defense is able to put 11 men in the box because you don't have a short passing game.

I'd give the offense a B
defense a B+
special teams a C-
coaching a A

UNC's not Duke. But they're not a top 25 team. The game they had on Saturday wasn't out of line with the game they played against UConn. Plus you ended up giving them about the same grades that I did :p.

enough with the negativity, already.

Good one. You're a regular comedian.

Take another look at the film. I have been hard on Cord Howard, but if you will notice he was a big reason the draw play was working. YES i know it was a new wrinkle- something UNC wasn't looking for, but Cord got after one of the fastest/toughest LB in the ACC (Bruce Carter) and sprung JD 3 times.

Offense = B+ Needed to put the nail in the coffin a couple of times in the red zone but the blocking was pretty good and play calling was good too.

Defense = A The switch back not only gave us a little more pop, and Julian Burnett played very well, but gave us some confidence back I think, we never got to Yates, but he was thinking about us.

Special Team = C- Tarrant seems like he is always one crease away from a big return, Orwin is a solid if not really good kick returner, BUT penalties hurt us on the punts and we only had 1 kick return (which is pretty good) Scott Blair is a BUM, it wasn't even raining yet, he gets the MSU game to redeem himself, if not good bye and hello fan out of the stands

How would you guys grade the fanbase this season...? A+ of course! :laugher: (yeah right) I'd give us a B-. We should've had more faith and confidence after the Miami loss. I think some of us did, but most of us didn't.
