J.C. Lanier. Big DT that has some great offers early committed today. One of those offers is from Clemson. He also was a standout in the semi's at the GA dome

Wow, we really really really need some guys like him on both sides of the ball. I just love the guys that commit early and can focus on having a fun senior year.

This is a huge get for next years class. He is a BEAST!! What a way to get 2009 rolling!

Wow, you say he committed? I can't remember anyone committing this early before (although I'm sure someone will correct me). Pretty strong statement about whether PJ knows what he's doing I'd say.

Great news, I think he committed earlier than Chris Jackson did last year. Hope is is very solid so he can start recruiting for us hard.

He and Barnes should fill up that middle quite nicely, don't ya think... Hell, on film it might look like we are in a 5 man front instead of a 4.

Lanier will likely be considered the top DT to come out of GA next season.

The '09 class will be very interesting. PJ and company are planning to monopolize the State of Georgia. I would not be surprised to see 60-70 percent of our total offers go out to GA prospects with another 5-10 percent going out to players in Alabama and Florida. We will also be trying to recruit from schools that we have had recent success with like Edison HS in California.

Think about this D-Line...

DE - Derrick Morgan
6'4" 270 lbs

DT - J.C. Lanier
6'3" 320 lbs

DT - T.J. Barnes
6'7" 325 lbs

DE - Jason Peters
6' 4" 272 lbs

I don't know about a monopoly, but I am thinking that CPJ will be able to get whoever he needs from the state. Not sure we will stay as deep as UGA does consistently, but that is not a huge factor in winning.

They better hurry. Uga already has five commits for '09 - all from within GA.

UGA is going to get their share. That is a given. However, considering the way recruits like to drag out the process and the Dawgs limited number of schollys, the quicker the Dawgs fill up, the better, IMO.

I reckon CPJs gonna do pretty well with a full year to recruit.

He'll also be able to show recruits (on offense) what the system will be like. Other schools won't be able to recruit against us with doom and gloom tales of how CPJ will work, which I'm sure happened with some guys this year.

Those are some big boys. Man, wouldn't it be nice to not be undersized on D for a change?

Isn't TJ Barnes going to play offense though?

Everything I've read and heard (obviously, I'm not and insider) is that Barnes was basically recruited to be a DT.
