Preseaon Player of the year Cullen Harper, from Alpharetta, broke 21 school records for Clemson as a freshman!

Runner up James Davis, of Douglass High School in Atlanta, has been a thorn in our side for the past three years and will surely make an impact this year too.

How the hell did we not get these guys? It's not like we lost them UGA. We lost guys not 20 miles from our campus right in out backyard to po-dunk Clemson 150 miles away!

Unbelieveable...

no one ever said chan was a good coach. there is a reason he was fired.

I can't speak for Harper, but I know with 100% certainty that Davis would not have been accepted at Tech.

sorry, bud, but this had nothing to do with Chan at all and i wish you guys would just forget about him instead of trying to pile every damn bad thing in the world on top of the guy.

neither of these guys would be eligible at Tech, even if they could have possibly gotten past the Hill to get in.

please use common sense and not be so reactionary

The unbelievable thing is your arrogance that GT should be able to get any kid they want, regardless of academics, their desires w/respect to distance and majors, and the situation at that player position at the time.

I hope the rest of your personailty isn't as arrogant. I bet it isn't, and you just felt like taking another shot at Chan.

There is absolutely no excuse for losing the kind of talent when it is right there! I care who the coach is, it is completely unexcusable. That's all im saying...

You sir are a douche.

But you're right I did not consider the academic side of. It just suprised me that we did not even try to recruit these guys.

Two words: Calvin Johnson

Two more: Michael Johnson

Stop me when you've heard enough.

His coaching shortcomings are well documented. But no one will ever convince me that he couldn't recruit.

Chan had the best recruiting class ever here at GT 2 years ago with Nesbitt,Dwyer,Morgan,Peters,Burnette exct. exct.
So to say he didn't recruit well is not factual. He actually was a great evaluator of talent...all those so-called poor classes by the so-called recruiting experts brought in some pretty darn good talent..

Chan came up short against ugag and never being able to take us beyond mediocre (bad gameday coaching and way too conservative play calling) but, recruiting was good under Chan...In fact, we now have the best Dline EVER here at GT and possibly one of the best in the nation...because of Chan....Wommack has a ton of deep talent on defense (he even admitted that it is the best defensive talent he has had to work with in his career, he has been at some pretty good football programs, S.C. Ark. SMiss) and if he doesn't deliver, it is not because of lack of talent....

So, you're a Tech fan and didn't even consider the academic side? Really? You're sure you know anything about GT? Get a grip man. Not every kid can get into Tech nor does every kid want to come to Tech. It's not all about football.

We've lost a lot of talent in basketball and football due to academics. And don't forget flunkgate. Little John is right. Why waste your time and resources recruiting on the margin?

Well, I suppose if you'r egoing to indict Chan for missing these two, then you also have to indict Richt. Fire away. The rest has already been said.

whatever you are saying, you are saying it without thinking first.

that is your problem. maybe you should be at Clemson...

I may have made a dumb comment on here without thinking and everyone has clearly pointed out my errors and I was obviously wrong, but for you accuse me of making a comment without thinking while simultaneously presuming to know me and anything about me based on one comment is just as short sighted my original comment.

You dont know anything about me and you're telling me I should be at Clemson. Well I'll tell you what, the fact that I have a Georgia Tech Civil Engineering degree hanging over my desk with the words "Highest Honor" emblazened on it would probably say otherwise.
