Greatest Ever

There is no doubt of my prejudice, but the 1952 GT team was one of my favorites.

AHSO, I agree of all the Tech I have seen since the mid to late 40's the 52 team was by far and away my favorite. I also think that team although a few squeekers was the best team Tech ever had. Grantland Rice also stated that was the best team he ever saw.

One of my favorite teams was the '66 team. I realize they lost the last two games but I always had fond memories of that team.

Concur on the '66 team. I'm not "experienced"

enough to have any first hand with the team of '52 but followed the '66 team all the way and remember Coach Dodd's last game fairly well. Lenny Snow and Kim King were my boyhood heroes. I always wanted to be #41 because that was what Lenny Snow wore. Great team that was undefeated until the last two games of the year, Ugag & UF ala, the snob himself, Steve Spurrier at QB in the Ernge Bowl. Bobby Dodd's last game.

1966 RESULTS
Texas A&M W 38-3
Vanderbilt W 42-0
Clemson W 13-12
Tennessee W 6-3
Auburn W 17-3
Tulane W 35-17
Duke W 48-7
Virginia W 14-13
Penn State W 21-0
Georgia L 14-23
Florida L 12-27 ** ORANGE BOWL **
1966 TOTALS 9-2-0 260-108

Didn't start my love fest with Tech until 1974. Definitely the '78 team with Eddie Lee and our lst Bowl game for me.

The '85 team with our Black Watch and victory against Michigan State in the All American Bowl.

But my favorite is the '90 team. There were some great, close, nailbiter games that season and we prevailed!

I'm still young and have only been a Tech fan for a few years. I guess I would have to say that thus far in my time as a Tech fan, my favorites were 2000, 1999, and 1998.

Maybe, one day I'll bee able to tell my grand kids how fond I was of the magnificent 2003 team and season we had.

Did you go to the All American Bowl? It was a blast.

I had a good friend I went to the game with that graduated from Mich St. He, like all their fans, was totally positive they were going to win the game.

It really was a sweet victory. Some people tend to forget what a great job that Bill Curry did with that team.

Gnats67, I thought Kim King was a very good quarterback, and Lenny Snow was a hard man to bring down.

I have posted this once before. My wife was pregnant with our son, and I told her I was going to name him Kim. Since my last name is Kent, it would have been Kim Kent. She nixed the idea.

He bacame a Jim instead of a Kim.

The Jacket, I am with you. I hope I can say I was around when GT had the 13-0 2003 national championship season. They had better hurry, time is running out on me, Belly, Big Buck, OldFoggy, and many others on this board.

Just saw an interview with General Franks.

When questioned about war with Irag, he commented,

"I know better than to turn hope into a strategy."

P.S. Beeware, surely with Geis coordinating the passing and Gailey calling the plays the Jackets will be just as successful as they was coaching together with the Cowboys.

As usual, you bring up a good point.

stateline, just want to know if you'll be man enough to say you were wrong if it turns out differently than you predict?

It was a special victory because John Dewberry had been suspended from the team because he missed curfew the night before. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the player who took his place who really hadn't played all year and did a good job. Also, this is awful, the running back for us that ate up Michigan State.

Michigan State had Andre Rison on that team and I can't remember their great tailback. We were loud and it was one of Bill Curry's better coaching performances. It took a lot of guts for him to suspend John.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Todd Rampley replaced John Dewberry as QB and did a great job.

Malcolm King ran for over 100 yards and scored the come-from-behind game winning TD with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

The great running back from Mich St. was Lorenzo White. He ran for over 100 yards but the rest of the Mich St. offense was held to less than 100 total. (By the way, Andre Rison was held to one catch for 18 yards.)

Tech ended the season ranked #18 in the final poll.

Great memories

And yes, our Black Watch defense was superb! Who was our DC that gave us the "Black Watch" label? Left with Curry to go to Alabama I believe?

I have to tell you, I had a party for the 1985 Team before the Georgia game - yes the whole team. I have around 100 pictures of that party and we had a DJ and once an hour he would stop and play "Ramblin Wreck" and everybody would stop and sing!! Maybe I could upload those pictures here. It was the week before the UGAG game on a Sat. Ted Roof and Pat Swilling helped me put it all together - 250 people showed up and it was great!! Everybody came including the cheerleaders! I remember Gary Lee told me that night he was hoping to return a kick back - I'll never forget when he did, oh my God I almost fell out of the North Stands because that's where he scored out of the fog!!!
We beat UGAG and then beat Michigan State!!

That UGA game in '85 was one of my top 3 of all time.
I remember Gary Lee returning that KO like it was yesterday. We had been surrounded by typically obnoxious UGA fans, (upper west) and when we won, I swear , Its the only time I have ever gotten obnoxious myself - I was giving them Hell !

The Bowl game that year, was New Years Eve (probably mentioned), - We were at a big party in N.C., at a hotel, and I found a place to watch the game missing most of the party ! But it was a great game - remember it well...

What year did Brent Cunningham play ?
That was an exciting era IMO...

Frankly, the last 4-5 years of Dodds tenure was when I really became a big fan - I loved those teams too - Kim King, Lenny Snow, etc - plus we were filling the "old" stadium back then which was exciting...

Did you guys make the '69 UGA game ?
