So what is the deal w Greg? Is he expected to get any playing time this season? Whats his deal? He seems very talented physically. I expected much more production out of him. Anybody got some info on him?
 
Greg is no longer on the team. He's getting his degree from here, then transferring to Tennessee State
 
I watched some assistant coaches yank him off the field by his jersey collar while he continually missed blocks from the A Back position, then I heard PJ griping about how players aren't working hard in practice because they think they don't have to worry about losing their starting jobs, then I saw Marcus Wright's redshirt get burned, then I didn't see Greg Smith on the field again.

That's what I've seen. I have no inside knowledge, but I can put two and two together. I'd honestly be surprised if Smith stays with the program through spring drills.
 
ahhh, o.k. thanks guys....guess he thought he was too good for the Aback position and the blocking that goes along with it...good luck to him anyways
 
If you look at the Spring Depth Chart on Ramblinwreck.com, it lists Greg Smith as "Lost LetterEarner". Or something along those lines.

dude wanted to fancy pants out there and forget it was football, which is physical.

i don't know the details at all, but I guarantee that no Greg Smith situation will prohibit us recruiting a relative if we like em. Paul doesn't give a flip about anything...Whether we want him and offer is another thing, but if we do paul will go after him.

Besides, no one said greg left on bad terms. It was obvious from practice 1 dude didn't want to block in the A-back spot, and didn't completely buy in. It may have been mutual. the fact he wants to finish his degree here says alot about what he thinks of the school etc etc...

I agree 100%.

He sounds like a class guy who just didn't fit the new coach.

he did have a BAD one that wommack came onto the field and yanked him off. but it may have just been the 'one' that you saw....but...who knows.
we can't watch every player every play, but the coaches can.
 
Jarrard Tarrant is not on that depth chart. Any idea when he is officially reinstated?
 
And what happened to Bryce Dykes? He is listed under letterwinners lost. I know I see him around the CRC all the time so he is still at Tech, so did he just quit the team?

Yeah.
There was some mention of it on one of the Tech blogs I think right as the semester started.

He dropped football and is just going to school now.

He has already been officially reinstated.

But I think he'll be back on the official depth chart when Spring practice gets up and going.
