Offer appears imminent. I don't know why he would accept what could be a lateral move at best to the Duke of the Big 12.

More money? Desire to get into a "football" conference? Personal ties?

I would think there will be bigger programs after him this year when the coaching carasel gets going. I don't think he will take the Baylor job, I believe he's too smart for that, but I do believe he will end up somewhere besides WF if not this year, then probably next....I'm ready for him to go now, though I've always kinda liked WF football....they generally do more with less than 95$ of the major Div IA programs....just don't want them doing it against us.

There is more potential at Baylor than Wake. They've had some success in the past, just not recently. Plus, they're located in Texas, with all that talent...and they are in a football conference.

Baylor is a step up over Wake...but I personally think Grobe could hold out for something better than Baylor.

Baylor is certainly not a power at this time in the Big 12, but with the right coach that could certainly change. Grobe has done a great jobe at Wake. Hope he stays. It's good for the ACC if he does.

IMO and I hate to say this, but there is much more potential at Baylor than at Wake. That's just as I see it. Wake is the smallest school in D1 football if I'm not mistaken. Basketball has been king there for some time. I have all the respect in the world for Wake and what Grobe has done. Shoot, they certainly kicked our tail.

Hate to see Grobe leave the ACC, but I can certainly see this with Baylor happening.

I don't hate to see him leave...we need for Wake to go back to bottom feeder status....not good enough to kick our Gailey coached asses!

Huge difference between Baylor & Wake Forest. Baylor will double his salary, is in the BigXII, is located in the land of HS recruits, goes after big time Bowls with BCS(maybe 2 some yrs), Holiday, Cotton, etc, has resouces to match the lesser teams of Big12(which is far better than WF), will be treated to many more 'perks' than WF & the list goes on.
An absolute 'no-brainer' for Grobe to move to Baylor & he would be a fool not to. People now believe in his PROVEN system to win anywhere. A running game in the Big12, where it is appreciated. Can you imagine the RBs he'll pull into Baylor? Lordy mercy.
Grobe'll probably be in the Cotton by his 2nd yr & the Holiday right behind, whereas, what kinda Bowl will he ever get @ WF?. An absolute no-brainer.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I agree that Baylor is a better job than Wake but that doesn't make it a good job. Baylor had been on a Duke like losing streak in the Big12 before this year. I would think that he would hold out for a good job, at least on the level of West Virginia, Mich. St., etc..

yellowjacket

Keep in mind, Wake also beat us just a few years ago when Joe Hamilton was a senior and we were playing for a shot in the Orange Bowl.

At Wake...and we were not a 13 point favorite...and our A.D had not stated on the pre game show that we will win because we have better players. We did have better players and got soundly outcoached! Gailey cost Tech that game by refusing to go for it on 4th and 8 inches at midfield.

Here is Baylor's record the past few years, again it may be a better job than Wake but it is still a really bad job in a great conference, not a good combination for an ambitous coach:

4-7 (1-7) '96
2-9 (1-7) '97
2-9 (1-7) '98
1-10 (0-8 ) '99
2-9 (0-8 ) '00
3-8 (0-8 ) '01
they are 3-8 (1-6) right now

yellowjacket.

So I guess we were outcoached when Hamilton was a senior and going for the Heisman and an Orange Bowl bid...another game where we were a favorite.

It is too bad that we have so many coaches in the stands and we just do not realize it...we have missed out on so many potential victories over the years! :-)

That team wasn't well prepared...factis, whether you like it or not, we have a very poor coaching staff. Take off the gold colored PollyAnna glasses.

yellowjacket...turn in your resume then.

We have already equaled our regular season win total from last year with one game to play...combine that with a new coaching staff, off-field controversy...the loss of Joe Burns, George Godsey, Kelly Campbell (those three were 90% of our offense), as well as our entire pass rush (Greg Gathers and Nick Rogers)...and you may as well throw in negative fans like yourself...that leaves us with a year that has EXCEEDED most of the unbiased experts' expectations.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Why is it that the coaches get all the blame when we loose and no credit when we win. Although the coaches have made some decisions that have cost us this year I believe we have a great head coach and some (not all) great assistants and if we will give him Coach Gailey time we will see great results. After all our record is as good as last year with a lot of good players missing due to graduation, injuries, defections ect. also this year we beat a top ten team and last year we did't even come close to doing that as far as I can remember untill BEWARE'S bowl game he likes to remind us of. Just my opinion.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Excellent question. I think it must be that some people are football fans, and enjoy a game between teams of players, while others have a huge ego investment in games and have to blame authority figures, like coaches, when their egos get hurt. They need Mommy.

On this same point it's interesting to me that seems not many people give Coach Gailey any credit for the D we've played this year. Sure Tenuta and the players deserve a great deal of credit, but so does Coach Gailey. Just thought I'd throw that in while it was on my mind.

GO JACKETS!

That doesn't make for a very enjoyable experience (entrails all over the floor, etc.)

Besides my mommy was never any good at coaching the fundamentals.
