if i go all the way to Ireland, why would i go watch an (american) football game which i can do very easily here in Atlanta or around the USA???

i dont get it. i would be taking in things that i dont already get to do
 
Those tours seems obnoxiously overpriced. I think I could plan the same thing for significantly cheaper. At least this one includes airfare though. The ones Tech was offering when the game was announced were close to that price without the flights.
 
Has anyone heard any news about the ability to purchase tickets to the game? The only option I have seen so far is to purchase game tickets as part of these overpriced bus tours. The last thing I want to do is spend 5 days trapped on a bus filled with retirees, even if they are Tech fans. I intend to tour Ireland on my own schedule.

I imagine Tech will offer them to season ticket holders in a manner similar to other away game tickets.

They are selling "premium tickets" with these packages but there will be tickets available for those wanting to plan their own trips (my group too). I guess I don't know if they will be through the GTAA, but the venue will have to be selling tickets through their website too at some point. I'm not worried about it - just want to make sure I'm in some sort of Tech side/section/block.
 
I'm going to Dublin for the game. I sure to hell can get most of the same for way less. Example less than $900 to dublin, hotels much cheaper, rental car etc. I'm taking my great grand daughter and the cost for both of us is maybe about the the same as mentioned above for one. ATL-Dublin, via Istanbul Boeing 777, time to visit the great cathedral then Boeing 737 to Dublin. Long flight but I like the flight since I've been all over the world but never have seen the cathedral. People do your own research and forget the so called packages.
 
What exactly is a jaunting car ride and why would I want to take one?

There's still a part of society I suppose who finds assembling the different parts of a trip daunting & overwhelming, especially in a foreign land. For them, it's nothing to spend a extra grand to have someone else do all the hotel legwork & map research. Most of us are wired differently, but there's still plenty of travel agents out there who book senior tours, youth tours, etc & they make pretty good margins for stuff the rest of us do for free....

Yep Turkish airlines ATL flight #32 to Istanbul, flight #1975 to Dublin and return. Normally I'd fly ATL-London-Dublin or ATL-DUB but I found tickets that go the long way around. BUT I get to see Santa Sophia which I've always wanted to see, build a day or 2 before I was born.

Seeing the Hagia Sophia is on my bucket list. I'll make it worth your while to bring me a photograph or two of that place - I collect awesome pics of the world's greatest churches.

Go see the Blue Mosque also. It's not quite as majestic but the almost.

Will do! But you owe me nothing. Just the thought of you enjoying the photos. I've been to Buda-Pest, Bucharesti, Bulgaria etc actually all over Europe and east Europe. But, never got to Turkey. Oh yes never went to a nude beach and took photos of the women. Planned a trip once a few years back but with the riots going on I decided against going.
 
Needs more whiskey tours and tastings. Can we buy and ship home? Round of golf on the links?
 
Old Foggy- That sounds like a fantastic plan.

I've noticed most of the American Chains are booked full around the game. It might be the travel agencies scarfing the rooms.

Couldn't find my usual Motel 6 or Econo Lodge.

Anyone know if the Clermont Hotel has a location and lounge in Dublin?
