Guys, never ever read too much into Greg Garrett\'s info

Trust me. I have been with the Hive since its inception. RR is a very close friend of mine I am proud to say. Greg Garrett was O'Leary's mouthpiece plain and simple. Yes, O'Leary and Braine follow(ed) the Hive. And whenever the natives got restless Greg Garrett was instructed by O'Leary to post on the Hive to settle everyone down. Garrett's post and run routine got his rocks off as he sat back and watched everyone drool over his next tidbit of information. Yes, the info he posted about recruits was normally accurate. Well, I would hope so since it came straight from O'Leary's mouth. Truth is, MANY OF US knew what he knew days or weeks ahead of what/when he posted. He is just hosed that he has yet to get in close enough with Chan to become his mouthpiece. I don't question Garrett's love for Tech. I do question anything and everything that comes out of his mouth/keyboard. Why would O'Leary entrust Garrett? Because he OWNED him that's why. If Garrett were to ever dare say one word negative about O'Leary he would be banned from the "inside scoop." You don't have to believe me. I hope you do. I have nothing to gain by telling you this. I just hope none of you sit around on a rollercoaster ride of emotions or opinions based on anything Greg Garrett reports.

Interesting JT. I am guilty of placing a lot of confidence in GG's posts. I even had his chats emailed to me. I will look at things more objectively from now on. BTW, when you know things (in advance or not) be sure and post them. I have a insatiable thirst for insider GT info.

I personally sleep or don't sleep based on what GG says.

You're coming in clear!!

The ship is not being run like it did in the past. Not saying anything bad about O'leary and Co. Things are just diff now.

You are right....things are different now....but not for the better....as will become abundantly clear over time.
I think GG is close enough to have honest misgivings about Buck's ability to recruit...and he is not the only one.

GT J.T., I have always had the very opinion of GG that you just described. I did not know him, nor have I ever met him, but reading between the lines of all his posts, your description is the picture I had of him.

JT, I do not disagree with anything you have said. I don't have any evidence one way or another, but it is intuitive and I do think that GOL was manipulative. The fact that Garrett wrote/writes for the AA paper indicates that he had to be an "establishment" mouthpiece.

I am sorry that you and RR are very close friends.

Re: Guys, never ever read too much into Greg Garrett\'s info

GT JT, you are dead on with this one. You did a great job of "telling it like it is", as Howard Cosell long ago used to say.

I do not know Greg Garrett, and I am sure he is great person and a huge Tech fan, but I do know that you speak the truth. One of my best friends, Bill Ballew, was the editor of The Sting, which was the fore-runner to the current publication that Garrett is the editor of. When O'Leary took over, he quickly befriended Greg and shortly thereafter the AA (due to O'Leary's wishes) decided to do away with Coman Publishing's "The Sting" in favor of Greg Garrett's new publication, which has been in various forms since inception.

I have always felt that The Sting was a far superior product to what we currently have, and that Bill could seperate his job from being a fan. I feel Greg often times blurs the line between journalist (and that position's responsibilities) and fan.

Glad to see someone express what had been going on for about 7 to 8 years now.

I think you're right on with GG,nothing wrong with being O'Leary's mouthpiece, maybe CG will get his own.
This board has its own mouthpiece of the past in Beeware.
