I know there have been many posts about "what happened", but I am too tired to go hunting through the posts. So here is my question.

What do you think the problem was with this game? Was the poor play due to someone finally exposing us? I hardly believe that CPJ would try and look ahead to next week, but they just didn't seem prepared. What is odd is that I don't expect them to play at all as poorly as they did against this GW team. It just doesn't make sense to me. I know there are bad games, but this would have compared to a UM/App St. upset had they won.

There are plenty of theories floating around, but here is my two cents. I think that our entire team greatly relies on our QB. Calvin Booker did not create a run threat, so the defense only defended the dive and the pitch. The result: we couldn't rush for anything. The other result is that we had plenty of three and outs. Three and out is horrible for the defense because they get no time for R&R and updating their scheme as the game progresses. We have a STEEP drop-off after Jaybo. The funny thing is that Jaybo is not much of a drop-off at all after Nesbitt. So as long as Jaybo and Nesbitt are healthy, we are fine.

Calvin Booker is an awesome guy and I am proud to have him on our team, but he is not an option QB and that is why the GW game was so tough.

I prett much agree with this assessment. They sold-out to stopping the dive and always had someone playing the pitch-man. Thus our offense was totally shut-down due to the fact that Booker wasn't a real threat to run himself. In addition, Booker was not 'ON' passing the football. I guarantee that if he would have hit several passes early and shown that he could move the ball through the air then it would have been a whole different ballgame. The only thing on offense that really concerns me from this game is the O-Line play. Ultimately, I expected that they would sell-out to stop the option, which they did, but I figured we would still get a push due to the fact that we have "D-1A" athletes and they have "D-1AA" athletes. This obviously did not happen, so it surely will be addressed this week and hopefully can be improved upon by the Clemson game. If the O-Line doesn't 'man-up' though, we will be in trouble as we approaching the meat of our schedule.

Our D line didn't suck.

Our linebackers sucked.

Our secondary sucked.

Our O line sucked HUGE STACKS OF DONKEY COCK.

Our QB sucked, but really, any QB would have sucked with as bad as our O line sucked.

Our WRs sucked.

Our ABs sucked.

Our BBs sucked.

Everyone sucked except our D line.

Thank you for the position by position breakdown.:laugher:

What irks me is that we were capable of playing THIS "sucky". If it was just a QB position struggle, I would feel better. Granted we are further along than I expected, but I, like coach, HATE LOSING!!!!

Can you guys imagine Taylor Bennett running our offense? Better or worse than Booker?

If our linebackers and secondary suck enough to allow only 7 points per game, I will be pretty pleased. I realize the score isn't the only metric to judge them by, but lets not lose sight of the fact that they got the job done. You can't expect a shut-out against a D1 team of any caliber...they still have athletes. Especially not when the offense is having 3-and-outs.

And truthfully, if it weren't for that BOGUS "leaping" penalty on MJ, our D would've shut them out. Our D really played well considering the poor position that our offense put them in all day long. This "close call" squarely rests on the offense's shoulders, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

Did Booker audible out of any plays? Both Josh and Jaybo have switched plays based on what the defense was showing. I don't think Booker did that at all.

They let GARNER WEBB drive on us to kick a FG to tie as time expired.

That counts as sucking.

Hehe, here we go again.

If PAUL FREAKING JOHNSON said we sucked right there on the post game show, then it's okay for BEEJ FREAKING SIXTY SEVEN to say that we sucked.

What were his words exactly, ncjacket? Do you remember? I think it was something along the lines of,

"This was horrible atrocious football. I'm personally embarrassed, and I hope like hell our team is just as embarassed. I would like to personally apologize to any Georgia Tech fan who sat through this farce of a football game."

Sound about right?

It was something like that. Someone else can feel free to correct me. My memory's a little foggy. Wes was so stunned he didn't even know how to respond.

He also said, in response to one of Wes's questions,

"You can't lay our performance today on the feet of one position. Everyone today played terrible. We played terrible as a team."

Our coach said what I said. I'm not exactly out on a limb here, man.

Now, lets be clear, I'm a fan.

There were lots of fans around me who sucked. They were yelling horrible, wretched, foul things at our own team, our own coaches, our own players. After the fake punt? Yeah, bad stuff. After Book started the second half? Worse stuff. Those fans, yes indeedy, sucked.

Did I yell horrible things at our players? Not once. Coaches? Not once. I grinned, I cracked jokes with the people around me, I yelled on third down, I held my face in my hands whenever we sucked, and I moved on. I sucked it up. I didn't suck.

So find another fan to gripe about. The OP asked what went wrong. I told him, essentially, exactly what our coach said in the postgame show. Don't shoot the messenger.

Hey, can't take a joke? I figured if the whole team and staff sucked (except the DL) then we sucked too. I know I was walking around the house cussing and moaning, so I sucked as well.

Hey, can't take a joke?

Apparently not!

:)

I'd like to reiterate that I didn't suck nearly as bad as many other fans I saw at the game, but I sure as hell smoked a whole pack of cigarettes saturday night, and it's killing me today.

Doesn't sound so bad. Linebackers need work.
