Hall of Shame

new job really working out for Bryan Cook

It’s not so much Cook as the problem is Southern has been schizophrenic in their coaching hires and bouncing between offensive styles. They are burning through coaches like crazy after having had pretty good coaching stability for a long while.

In fairness, 2 of Southern's 3 opponents have been Power 5 schools. They are only underachieving by 1 game.

And they lost to New Hampshire.

They should have never hired Tyson Summers.

They would probably lose to Savannah State if they had scheduled them.

UNH is a perennial FCS Playoffs team. Which is pretty much what GaSo is. They didn't magically take a jump when they joined the FBS a couple years ago.

It's still disappointing. This is the second time Ga Southern lost to UNH.

was never really in favor of GSU move to FBS but with 25,000 students, and about to add 7k more with the absorption of Armstrong, it would have looked odd to have a school that big playing FCS (then again, KSU is even bigger and at FCS but their program is still in its infancy).
Under Summers, Southern is 2-11 over its last 13. Dude is simply overmatched and out of his depth. How AD ever got snookered into giving him a job remains a mystery (actually, I've heard, but I'm keeping that one to myself).
Southern very likely could go 0-12. Only favored in two games the rest of the way and just barely in those.

The problem is not the move to FBS but not paying enough for the last two coaches. They have both succeeded at their new schools. Gotta pay to play at this level...

Gotta pay FBS money. Can't expect to run the program like an FCS program and be successful

there is leaked audio of Fritz talking about not getting an extension as to why he bolted for Tulane. Monken and the AD clashed, I believe. Summers is making around $500K (could be wrong on this). Southern not in a position to pay close to seven figures for a coach, or afford the resulting assistants' salaries. And if this losing continues and the fans stay away in droves ... ain't gonna get easier. Southern might have to play 4 money games a year. That means the only home games are conference games.
As a contrast, Southern had 11 home games in 1989, the year they went 15-0.

The 1st Saturday home game is this weekend (yes, 1 was a hurricane casualty). Only 3 home Saturday games all season. That's got to piss off the fans.

Georgia Southern should have never come to FBS. At FCS they carried the big stick. At FCS you can get FBS transfers who can play immediately. Dumb move moving to FBS
They let Tulane out bid them for their former coach. Then hired a young guy that came cheap.
