Hardest coaching jobs in CFB

Accurate??

I think one of the replies nailed it. Moving away from the option, academics, recruiting/playing against UG/CU etc should put us Top 5 easily. I would also throw in less fan support than the schools we aspire to beat. Given that the ACC is pretty down right now I'd say 5 would be a good spot.

Auburn? Really?
With all that Bobby Lowder and Jimmy Rane money raining down on them?
They get Bama, LSU, the Mutts and A&M now every year. Yeah, that's hard. But damn, it isn't like Auburn ain't getting top notch talent, no matter how much it costs (Auburn fans I know say the $180,000 to get Cam was the best ever spent there).

I guess because it's the SEC West is why they have Arkansas there. But hell, they got ins all over Texas and Louisiana talent. And don't think for a minute that program is hurting for resources.

Auburn at 1 is actually reasonable: it's hard in a bit of a unique way. You pretty much have to be a top 10 coach to last more than a couple seasons there. If you aren't beating Alabama, georgia, LSU, and winning the West semi-regularly, you will get fired within 5 years. It doesn't matter what the buyout is, they will pay it. It's maybe the worst set of boosters in the country to try to keep happy, and it may not even be possible to keep enough of them happy for very long. The expectations are just totally misaligned with reality there.

Expectations obviously matter for Auburn as was said above, but for the same reason Duke shouldn't be on the list. It is the opposite of Auburn. Win some games and you can stay as long as you want. No conference or division titles necessary.

We’ve got a guy coming off of three straight 3 winners who is six wins in a bad conference away from getting an extension and we are claiming this is a “hard” job?
Lord help us if this comes to fruition.

Why is Nebraska on that list? There’s no shortage of good HS football players in Nebraska that love Nebraska.

According to 247, there are 0 5 star and only 3 4 star and 9 3 star players in the whole state for the 2022 class. None of the 4 stars are committed to Nebraska and only 3 of the 3 stars.

By contrast, Georgia has 4 5 star prospects, 30 4 star prospects, and more 3 stars than I care to count.

Nebraska has never been the same since they got rid of that dadgum option. Hrmm......

Not sure if serious or not but... there is quite a shortage of actual recruits from Nebraska. Only 10 listed for 2023 class, for example.

Tech’s is not top ten in this category. We have history, academic prowess, and a great recruiting area. It’s tough, but not Top Ten.
Auburn at #1 is a joke. Try coaching at Kansas, Rutgers, UConn, Tulane, Oregon State, Duke, Vandy….

GT should not be in the top 10 of this list. CGC is making it look like top 5; but that isn't the reality. GT should probably closer to #20.

Do Duke and Vandy have historically winning programs and bowl appearance consistency that the fan base and supporters have come to expect as part of their team's history? Being mediocre isn't too tough of a job when the expectation is mediocrity.

IMO Lowder and Rane are probably the reason Auburn is #1 on the list. Would you want those two breathing down your neck every week?
