Has the corner been turned?

Is this win a watershed event? What does it really say?
This was a great victory in many ways.A convincing win over a favored ranked and traditional SEC opponent. It doesn't get much better than this.It showed me that we truly do have a complete fball team with a smothering and exciting Defense,a resouceful and creative Offense with young QB who will only get better, and spec teams that are competitive at least. It also legitimizes CG as someone who can put together such a team.
Is this another NCST game that was only really a misleading taste of sweet long term success? The tough reviewer will say that Auburn was a vastly over-rated team who may actually get beaten by Vandy this week and so the victory provided little except a win.The offense still has running game thats only generating 100 yds a game which won't carry you far against say -a FSU.The Def is one or two injuries away from breakdown.say-Fox and Henderson. Not to mention the same for the kickers-say like LAST yr.
Hard to say but I can't tell you how much I DELIGHTED I was in seeing ---Darius Williams ,who I believe has never been thrown a pass, makes the most beautiful reception in yrs for Tech--Mark Logan, who I had assumed would slid into oblivion after being switched from QB, makes a catch that ANY receiver would proud of for a TD.- a defense that that even by me was degraded as too small,young/inexperienced, and depthless rises up to breathtaking intensity to squash a hated rival.--- a FG kicker who as a long suffering Senior comes to be perfect on FGs and excellence in KOs.-- finally a head coach who as late as the week previous showed little creativity literally baffles and confuses a SEC title contender into exasperation with blitzes,stunts,roll-outs,options, and a fake punt.Oh,not to mention a rollicking soldout AND filled up stadium of OVER 50k enjoying the spectacle.
We'll see, bring it on.

I surely don't know the answer to your question, but for this week anyway, please don't pinch me. I fear Saturday was a dream and I'm still asleep.

We haven't turned the corner but we've taken a big step forward. The most important game is still the Clemson game. #1 because its at home. #2 its a conference game. #3 its winnable. #4 When we beat Clemson we usually have a good season, when we don't we don't. I think what we need to see is consistancy, then we've turned the corner. No more erratic, unpredictable, bad performances. If this team plays hard and doesn't beat themselves and keeps making big plays then I think they will do well for themselves. Chan's style is very NFL and in the NFL discipline, consistency, and big plays are what separate the winners and losers.

Amen Kirbee.

We seem to have been pretty even with Climpsun overall the last couple of years. If we beat them we'll be in good shape to have a run at a bowl game.

Hopefully we can outperform my preseason prediction of 5 or 6 wins. At this point that looks like number we SHOULD win. Anything above 6 will be a bonus...

That's a toughy question. I wouldn't say we have turned the corner as such but I will say that we did be a much superior team. We just, in Georgia talk, plain ole out played them.
Will it carry over to Sat?
Dunno
We'll just wait and see and hope for the best. I've learned to expect the worse and be happy with what's left. If we don't suffer injuries, and if our guys can stay focused, yes, there is a chance. But I'm afraid it's a slim one. If we slobber knock FSU, I'll be the first to say I figured wrong. Still the Tech fan though.

We don't have near enough information to determine if we have turned a corner. This win was HUGE however, and gives us a stepping stone. We still have a lot to prove. I agree with others that the Clemson will really tell us something significant about this team.

We had a huge improvement since the BYU game, but we also were playing a completely different kind of team and football. F$U does it all, and I think we have to see what happens over the next two games to start deciding what we really have.

If the players keep up the intensity, cut out the turnovers, and play sound football... the sky is the limit.

I agree with Kirbee..

The truth of the matter is this.. we still have depth problems.. still have a QB that has played only 2 Div 1A games.. we still need a RB to take it to another level.. and we are still very young.. does the future look brighter than it did a week ago.. absolutely....

I think all in all, we are not as good nor will we be as consistent as the fanbase desires.. but we certainly are not as bad as everyone had us painted to be either...

I think we are going in a good direction, and I like the way this team is playing.. if things go well.. we could mirror what Virginia did last year..

Sat night will tell me alot.. Rix is a much better than QB than we faced on Saturday, and FSU has alot more team speed than Auburn..

A win over FSU Sat night would be more than huge..

I agree with Beeserk 100% except to when he accused me of "taking this board to an all-time low"......

By the way: Beeserk, you probably were right and I ask for forgiveness from you and all others who agreed with you. I did get completely out of hand.

One thing that should help us is the last game against a big tough team. Auburn has some big tough linemen and some first class athletes.

Since we played them toe-to-toe, we should be able to go the same with FSU. However, as jacketguy has noted, FSU has a quarterback and Auburn did not. This makes them more dangerous against us.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">belly,

Don't deceive yourself. FSU is everything that awBARN is not. They are much more balanced....they have a much better QB....they are much better coached....they are at home.

We will have to play much better than we played against awBARN just to keep from getting blown out.

I will be there.

kirbee is spot on. I've been posting for awhile now that the Clemson game will speak volumes as to the direction of our program. THWG

I agree with most that we don't have enough info to make that call. The win on Saturday was great but we need to show consistency before we talk about turning the corner. You usually don't find out what was the turning point until awhile after it happens (sort of like a recession).

Certainly a step in the right direction but the next 3-4 games will tell the story.

You got it BEEWARE!!! This team (FSU) is scary/awesome. I am happy that B.is out; but like you said: Rix is "something else" and the big guy is one to challenge a frieght train; but, boy, if only we can get the "breaks", no telling what will happen. Our guys indeed are not slouches by any means. Ball and this whole team have stolen my heart!!!! If this team plays with the energy and courage it showed Saturday, they will throw a scare in FSU and perhaps?????????? Win!!!!

Saturday's win against Auburn was
big for the program. However, F.S.U.
will be a formidable opponent because
IMHO they will be more diversified than
Auburn.

This F.S.U. team reminds me very much of
some of their past championship teams, which
is very scary.

It is my hope that we play them tough and
come out of the game without any serious
injuries, because the Clemson game looms
as a very important game on our schedule.

After F.S.U. the next two games are
winnable games for us.

As far as turning the corner I beelieve it is
too early in the season to say that.

The positive thing about playing FSU now is that if we can put up a good fight and come out of the game healthy, we'll have nothing to fear from any other team this year. Nobody else, save Wake, has looked impressive and don't know if Wake is for real or not.
