I am being as opened minded as possible during this time. I still keep coming back to one realistic possibility to provide everyone of us what we want at Tech and that is Chris Hatcher.

Why he has not been contacted and interviewed is beyond me. Will Muschamp over Hatch? Crazy to me.

We want a different direction, fire, excitement, a great recruiter, explosive offense, young, dynamic, commited to tradition and academics, etc... this list goes on and he fits every one of those positions.

Most of you know my background and also the fact that my father played at GT and in the NFL and coached for 30+ years. Having been associated with all the greats (Erk, Bobby Dodd, Tonto Coleman, Broyles, Bazemore, not to mention others) he has told me that he has NEVER seen a person that could communicate with kids and get them to respond like Chris Hatcher.

He also says that Hatcher can take his players this week and beat you and your players next week and still beat you.

Go see his GSU acceptance speech on youtube.

If we don't talk to him, I think it is a huge mistake.

Hatcher would be my #1 choice for all of the reasons you've listed, and I have talked to quite a few Tech people who feel the same way.

I've emailed Radakovich, and encouraged others to do the same.

Don't know if it matters or not.

Sure seems like CH doesn't have a legit shot at the job tho.

If he hasn't been contacted I'm 100% sure that DRad has a good reason. In all reality, you listed the things that YOU(and most posters) want. But if you were an expert on running a D1 football program then you wouldn't be posting here you would be sitting in an office overlooking a college football field. DRad will make a pick that will give GT the boost it needs, trust in him.

Just because some of us chose other careers than football, doesn't mean we don't have the knowledge on alot of areas. Especially when we talk to coaches and others on a regular basis. Don't be blinded by the fact that everyone who is a coach knows what's best.

Well, if the reports that we haven't even interviewed anybody yet as of yesterday are true, then Im not sticking a fork in Hatcher yet.

Fact is GT hired DRAD to make these decisions...it's not a democracy where fans get to vote on who the next coach will be.

If an AD caves in to what the fans want, and not what he thinks is right, what's the point of having the AD choose a coach? The AD is aware of the ins-and-outs at GT, and fans only see one side of it.

FWIW, I too would like to have Hatcher over all the other canidates, but it looks like it's not going to happen from everything we've read (not even contacted him which means we're not even considering him). CR, some would think your roots would have something to do with your extreme support of hatcher.

You are correct....my football roots.

I don't understand either and agree that he meets the most criteria. In fact, I would say that he is the most likely to get a pass if it takes some time for him produce big returns.

Somebody, needs to find someone who has DRad's ear on this. I've done what I can.

I really do hope that Chris Hatcher is given a interview....I think GT will regret it if they don't talk to him...especially if we face him on the opposite side of the field.... I WANT TO READ about HATCHER being called & an interview being .

I could not agree more. He would be my number one choice. Perfect fit. Has head coach written all over him. Knows how to motivate players and boosters. May be too much of a gamble for Rad for whats at stake but I think he is the lightning in a bottle we are looking for. He will be a superstar for somebody real soon if not us.

Well, DemJ's makes it sound like he has at least been contacted. That leaves me with a glimmer of hope.

Don't worry, Coleman. I emailed Rad and told him we should hire Hatcher, so it's a lock, right?
:laugher:

Here is what I sent to D-Rad and is a repost from the Edsall thread:

I would like to see us hire Hatcher.

I feel that he is a young coaching prodigy with the right mixture of charisma, determination, and know how to take us to the next level. I feel this is our chance to hire the next generation's Steve Spurrier.

I don't think that anyone that we are looking at will be able to recruit Georgia better. Hatcher is the prodigal son of Georgia football and just about everyone in our state wants to see him succeed. By making him part of the GT Family, we gain the goodwill of his supporters. A significant number of whom are in parts of the state that otherwise care very little or not at all for our program now. Other candidates might make a bigger splash nationally, but people in Conn. or Cali don't buy season tickets and the majority of our recruits, one of the main sources of our success, will always come from in-state. In order to generate the revenue to take our program to the next level, we need to expand our in-state fan base beyond GT alumni and I believe that Hatcher provides a unique opportunity to reach out to that audience.

Some people have doubts because he has not been an OC at the D-IA level. I say that Hatcher could have become BCS level OC years ago, but he wants to be his own man, a HC. I believe that people in coaching circles do not have any doubts in his knowledge of the X's and O's side of things. He has demonstrated the ability and flexibility to implement both as a pass happy and run happy offense. I also think that his experience as a HC albeit at a lower level has better prepared him for the GT job than being a coordinator at the D-IA level even if at a big program. Guys that have never been HC might have put a lot of planning and thought into how to handle the additional responsibilities of a HC, but they do not have the practical experience of actually implementing such a plan like Hatcher.

I think that Hatcher is the only candidate that we are currently considering that people in our own state could view as a true rival to Mark Richt. Hatcher is easily characterized as the young lion rising to challenge the old lion (Richt) and people love an underdog. Every other candidate would just be another GT coach passing through town for a few years, but in Hatcher they would someone that they will be vested in whether he ends up staying at GT long term or not.

GT92, get you and your Dad into Rad's office and do some convincing. Did you meet with him after the UNC game. Hatcher is easily the most popular choice out there. Although, I would prefer we had seen more of him on the I-A level. If Rad thinks he is the best choice, I would be very excited at that point.

if you've got a good feeling you would be able to get a guy, and that you would like them, it makes sense to first interview those for which there is more uncertainty.

that's my hopeful interpretation.

I did meet with him and briefly discussed Hatcher. I did get the feeling that DRAD looked down at Chris or either he was doing a good job of hiding it.

Bottom line is that I want the most qualified guy and if DRAD goes another direction I will support it.

This is kind of like Republicans debating each other but in the end they agree to defeat the real enemy.

Well, without knowing anything else and if that is how DRad is looking at Hatcher, then my opinion of DRad just fell a few notches.

This is something I just don't understand. My best friend thinks Bruce Springsteen is awesome. I can't stand his music. I don't think less of my friend because his opinion on an interest we both share is radically different than mine.

I know this isn't a perfect analogy but it seems apropos. Don't just assume first that DRad does look down at Chris Hatcher. Perhaps he thinks highly of Chris Hatcher but not as highly as other candidates. Or perhaps we'll end up with Chris Hatcher as our HC (which is something I could get excited about so I'm absolutely not anti-Chris Hatcher). Maybe DRad has other information than you and I have. For example, perhaps he's talked to other people who's football opinions he trusts and through that collection of other information he's formed a different opinion than you have.

What I'm getting as is why did a man who apparently was held in some esteem by you 5 minutes before you read a post on a message board somehow drop a few notches based on that post? If you respected him before why not give him the benefit of the doubt that if he feels some way about a candidate that he has some reasons to feel that way that are not irrational or based on some bias.
