have we turned a corner?.....

Well, was it him or Chan that called for the punt on 4th and 1, when ND was starting to gain momentum?

Well if we can't get it on third and 1...

I thought the call for the punt was iffy. If our o-line hadn't completely tanked in the second half for some reason, it would have been clearer to go for it. We punted vs Miami in a similar situation, although I think we may have had the lead.

In my opinion we have not turned a corner. Two things stood out to me at the game that made me shake my head outside of the overall outcome.

1.) 4th down and 1 yard at mid field and we punt.

2.) 3rd and 8 from the 12 yard line and we run to the middle of the field to center the ball.

We may play lights out, but you'd never know it because our coaches call an offensive game like a bunch of pussies.

1) On the '4th and 1' I wanted to go for it. I did not like that one.

2) On 3rd and 8 from the 12, 5 minutes left in the half with a 7-0 lead, our defense dominating, and Reggie at QB....I agree with running the ball towards the center to at least set up the FG if you do not get the yards for a first. At that point you SHOULD go into half with a 10-0 lead. However, for some unknown reason our incredible defense has a tendency to give up pts right before half or at other weird times when you least expect it. Certainly not complaining about them because they did a great job overall.

That is not a logical response considering the wins against Auburn and Miami last year.
Neither of those teams have Weis or Richt quality coaches. We definitely caught Auburn at the right time as well.

Gailey is clearly frightened of going toe-to-toe with the best coaches and it's shown against UGAy, VT, FSU, and now Notre Dame.

There was a huge difference, our defense was controlling the Miami game. For all the accolades being thrown at our Defense this game (and they are mostly deserved), the truth is that we didn't stop them starting in teh middle of the 2nd quarter. There was no reason to think that you would pin them down and stop them with a 3 and out.

I am sorry...but I have to laugh out loud at the silliness of this post. Maybe you should step back from the keyboard for 48 hours and cool down. :fingersx:

Yeah, whatever. If you don't think trying to sit on 10 to 14 points against top teams isn't playing scared you don't understand the game.

Gailey understands that he is clearly outclassed against these coaches so he tries to hang on rather than going for the win.

well then...maybe you should just focus your time elsewhere.
