People are talking about our next HC, huh...?

Here's what we should be looking for, IMHO:

(1) Probably can't afford someone with multiple nat'l championships at the FBS level. We should target someone with multiple nat'l championships at the FCS level.

(2) Need to find someone who has rebuilt a program despite, not because of, recruiting. I'm not sure what that looks like exactly, but whoever comes here needs to know he's not stepping into a cornucopia of talent, and be ready to recruit into those issues rather than run from them. Maybe he's coached somewhere where there are severe recruiting limitations.

(3) GT is situated in one of the most talent-rich cities and states in the country. Need to find someone with Southern roots and Southern experience. Preferably someone with good, long-standing connections to Georgia HS programs. Maybe someone who was a coach with success here in Georgia.

(4) For all that, we also have to find someone who will stick around after his success. We don't want to just prep somebody for their ascent up to the NFL or Notre Dame or Alabama (for example). So we need to find someone who — for some reason — isn't in high demand among the big name programs. Maybe he runs an unconventional scheme or something.

Anybody have any idea where we can find someone like that?

Repeating the same actions and expecting different results is...umm...crazy or something.

No.

Maybe someone with a winning record in Athens? Previous acc championships and orange bowl victories not required but heavily weighed?
If only there was such a guy.

Why do we keep talking about our next head coach? I know this season hasn't gone exactly as we wanted, but we are four seconds and a hurricane away from being 8-3 right now. Add another minute and we are 9-2.

This is clever, but it's VERY obvious you're only painting a picture to intentionally point to one man...

Aside from Georgia roots, Mike Leach is prob the closest.

I def. Don't think it is time for a change but I certainly don't think CPJ is our ceiling. Hiring Mike Leach would be the only move I would be okay with at this point. I think CPJ has a few more 2016s and maybe 1 or 2 more 2014s in the future though.

I know this may be easier said than done, but I would like to see a coach (whoever it is) who has the nuts to use the ADVANTAGES of Tech, the education it can provide, it's history and traditions, and it's proximity to pro sports in recruiting. I will say this again, I am not on the "let's run CPJ out of town" bandwagon, but these things are pretty evident going forward:
1) As a coach and as a recruiter, he isn't a very pleasant person. This isn't just from a few folks, but from people down through the years at Navy and Ga. Southern. When he is on TV or with the media, he truly acts like he hates every second of it.
2) He does run a system that most kids don't want to play in. I see some are saying he needs a new OL coach, I would think it has to be hard getting top flite kids to want to dive at people's feet all day.
3) The metro Atlanta area is right up there with South Florida as the Mecca for recruiting today. These kids are not attending backwater high schools, but schools that prepare them for Tech much more than they used to do. The right coach and the right system would almost surely interest a number of these kids, rather than just conceding them to other schools.

This whole thing can be debated all day long. And many think Tech is right where it needs to be. I am not here to argue that. But also going forward, things may be getting tougher. Like it or not, UGA is recruiting at almost unprecedented levels, Miami is certainly getting markedly better, Clemson is going nowhere backwards any time soon, I can assure you FSU will not be in it's predicament long. The ACC Coastal has been ripe for the picking for a while, but that is going to become harder. The 6-6 years may become more prevalent than the 9-4s. Only time will tell.
