Heirbstreet.....

That guy loves us. Normally I wouldn't care, but it could translate into mucho "love" from the 4 letter network.

He always picks us! If i remember correctly he said we would pull the upset over UGA!

Herbstreit is actually pretty good. It's Corso who ruins gameday.

Everytime Herby has picked us this year, he's been right.

i like herbstreit. he always seems to be educated in his decisions and backs up his decisions with concise reasoning. i believe he really takes pride in his work.
corso is a hack.

...corso is a hack.
Corso is football's version of Dick Vitale. Self-indulgent blowhards who fall in love with big-name programs and love to hear themselves talk. But at least Vitale is a decent man.

You should google to find Corso's interview with a Texas radio station where they asked him about posing nekkid in some mag (he didn't - it was just a joke). Corso wouldn't play along and was a completely humorless jerk to the DJs.

I'm coming around on Herbstreit. He is really coming along as a dignified professional with a lot of credibility.

I like Corso...he adds something to the GD Crew.

You have Chris Fowler who is the pompous, arrogant, ACC-hatin' jerk.
Kirk Herbsteit is the "looks" guy who is calm, cool, and breaks down the game.
Lee Corso is the comedic goofball who will do anything the director wants (wear stupid hats, etc.), say anything even if it means taking an opposing view of Herbsteit that he does not necessarily believe.

They cannot agree most of the time...that is the way their show works.

Kind of like First Take....that show would be useless if they agreed even one third of the time!

My opinion...Corso is far less annoying than Vitale....but they serve the same purpose. They are characters.

Herbstreit was a Big Televen homer his first few years, but nowadays he's probably one of the most knowledgeable CFB sportscasters in the country.

I don't mind Corso at all. he's good at what he does...stupid hats and all.

I especially liked his performance on College Gameday in Athens where he said Uga was "one ugly dog"!

its an act with Corso. i met him when he came to Tech for a big game here, and he was extremely normal and humble guy.

they told him he had to move his car out of the stadium while he was trying to go somewhere and he didnt complain at all, just drove to the lot outside like a regular guy.

he was very nice. his act on the show is just that -- an act

for vitale, it was an act, but now he is the character.

Corso and Vitale are awesome. I have no problem with these guys. Vitale is a class act and a big supporter of Jimmy V's cancer foundation, so if you have a problem with him, you must be picky. And Corso has basically made the college game day show as big as it is. Have you seen the amount of excitement that builds around him putting on the mascot head? I think the same people who have problems with Corso or Vitale are the same people who have a problem with female sports analysts, always having a problem with something.

Dick Vitale is a jackass and at this point is so annoying he is a caricature of himself. I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between Vitale for real and somebody doing an over-hyped Vitale impersonation.

I don't have a problem so much with Corso, but like Chris Berman I've heard too many "once the camera stopped rolling" stories about Vitale to think much of him. Of course like Berman, his schtick got annoying and hackneyed BACK BACK BACK in the mid-90's.

Herbstreit is college football.
Corso is annoying but mildly entertaining.
Vitale is annoying and not entertaining.

Herbie did say that Gene Chizik was a good hire for Auburn, though

I'll sum up my feelings on Corso and Vitale like this: If I saw Lee Corso walking along the street, I would stop and maybe make a comment asking him to pick whoever was playing Tech that weekend so I would be assured of a win. If I saw Dick Vitale walking along the street, I would intentionally drive onto the sidewalk to hit him.

Herbie did say that Gene Chizik was a good hire for Auburn, though

when he was there as a DC they had one of the best defenses in college football. i think he is a better choice than some give credit for

I like Dick Vitale. He might be over the top, but it's not just an act for TV shows...he is the same way in all of his interviews too. Listen to him on any radio show and he's always talking enthusiastically about his beloved Rays or other sports...he's just a huge sports fan who is very excitable. Plus, like someone else said, he does a lot of stuff for cancer work and other charities. If he had picked a team other than Duke as his favorite, he probably wouldn't catch nearly as much crap as he does.

Someone before mentioned Chris Berman as being similar in that his schtick is getting old. The difference to me is that Berman comes off as a self-absorbed jackass who thinks he's classy and above everyone else, and I just don't get that from Vitale.

That guy loves us. Normally I wouldn't care, but it could translate into mucho "love" from the 4 letter network.

Was watching the rebroadcast of the ESPNU Bowl Mania 90 minute show last night and the whole crew on that show was giving us love. Jesse Palmer, Robert Smith, Ed Cunningham, and one other dude all picked us to beat LSU. In fact Jesse had GT winning as his 10th most confident pick (picked winners for all the bowls and then rated them by most confident of his pick to least confident where 34 was the most and 1 was the least and we were 24th or 25th).

One of the things they kept saying was that NOBODY wants to play us because of how hard it is to prepare for our offense. They made a very astute comment about how having extra time to prepare for the offense doesn't necessarily help you because you can't possibly see it at speed on your practice field so the first time you'll see it run at game speed (where you HAVE to be disciplined on defense) is in the game. But Jesse (I think it was Jesse) gave us even more love by reminding people that GT may have the best front four in "all of college football."

I think we're getting lots of love from ESPN now and it should only get better.
