Herbstreit high on Daryl Smith

Didn't see this posted anywhere. Herbstreit put out his "best of" lists for the upcoming season. Worth checking out, if for no other reason than to see Daryl Smith ranked a couple notches higher than Boss Bailey and Jeremy Muyres on the list of the top safeties in the country. I always liked that Herbstreit.

Interesting...he listed us as the sleeper in the ACC. Let's hope so.

Curious, no mention of Greg Gathers in the defensive categories; I always felt that last year's "Thunder and Lightning" duo didn't live up to pre-season hype. Could this lack of mention be some sort of backlash from last year?

goldeagle, I was shocked and appalled at the absence of Gathers from the DE list.

Personally I thought that Gathers had a disappointing year. Sure he had a few sacks, but not very often in key clutch situations. If he had come down the line and knocked Woody Dantzler into the cheap seats on one of those scrambles I would have been impressed.

I'm sure he's ready to show his stuff this season.

I dont take offense at anything that it is said to start this year.

The WHOLE team under performed last year. We are fortunate that we have enough talent this year to overcome.

If they under perform this year then we will have serious problems.
