Good move on Gailey but it won’t matter if your new coach turns back flips from one end zone to the other with his hair on fire. Your fans aren’t going to be excited.

Not as long as you keep scheduling cupcakes like Samford (for god sakes), Army, Troy, etc. Talk about yawners.

No if you want to fill the stadium with wildly cheering fans you need to schedule at least 3 of the following teams every year: Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and Auburn.

Hey I didn’t say the stadium would be filled with Tech fans but at least winning 7 games will mean more than winning a $10 pizza at during a tv timeout……..

I think we have more important things to worry about than our schedule next year.

We have Miss State and Georgia for non-conference games...two bowl teams of which UGA will be top three pre-season next year.

In ACC we got a stacked non-division schedule with Clemson, FSU, and Boston College.

That is 5 tough ones.

Then we have our in-division schedule which will include Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Miami (they have to come back sometime...they are Miami).

That is 8 games that we very well could be underdogs in!

There is nothing wrong with our scheduling...particularly since the W/L record seems to be all that matters if you are from a BCS conference...just look at the BCS rankings.

Now...as far as exciting for the fans...I am with you!! Best for our program...can't go with it.

Wrong.

You come to watch your team play instead of going to see whatever team we're playing.

BDS is our house, and as much as I dont like being in the ACC, thats where we are, so its time to stop wanting to shoot ourselves in the foot with these hard out of conference games.

And besides all that, Auburn will never play us as long as Tuberville is still there.

I agree. As much as I would enjoy seeing the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Florida at BDS --the fact is that GT left the SEC a long time ago.

A full ACC schedule filled out with a variation of the teams listed above --plus UGA-- is not feasible --not to mention that you would never have the seven home games a year that so many Div. 1 teams covet.

The problem is that a lot of Tech fans go to see the opponent not their own team.

I don't see why we assume the schedule is that tough next year.

FSU and BC might finish last and next to last in their division. Clemson, Wake, and MD should be the top 3 teams IMO.

I think the schedule on paper is slightly less difficult than this year.

I completely disagree.

Fact is we already have Georgia as our one difficult OoC opponent every year. I see no reason to add anyone other than cupcakes. We need the home game revenue and we need the wins to stay bowl eligible year to year. The only things that matter are beating UGA and winning the ACC. That is challenge enough. If we can ever complete like that consistently for 10 years, then and only then starting adding the frosting.

We're not in the SEC anymore friend. I suggest you start enjoying the rivalries we have between Clemson, UVA, VT, UVA, Maryland, Wake, etc. If you can't/won't deal with that then find an SEC team to latch on to.

Fully agree here. You can schedule better. First for our so called cupcake lets stay in state and generate some excitement. We should never play Samford or Jacksonville State. Why???? Even LSU gives the directional schools a break. This needs to be Georgia Southern. Stop worrying about them becoming Southern Miss. Lets keep the money in state and create a little excitement. I like the Mississippi State addition. We need to set up a rivalry game here that we look forward to year after year. It could also be ND though I like the thought of an interegional rivalry. If it wasn't a conference game I would say FSU. For the other game I think we should us a mid major that gets up exposure in the west like Hawaii or Boise. Just my opinion. Like we say we are not like other schools. Patty cakes for no reason do NOT help us and our reputation.

As far as BCS conference teams are concerned --Miss St and FSU are replacing ND and Maryland. I don't see much of a difference in the two schedules --particularly if you think ND will be improved.

You know what puts butts in the seats better than anything?

WINNING

Miss St and FSU both had winning records this year. ND is horrible and Maryland is a 6-6 team.

I think that this year schedule is definitely softer than next years, but you never know.

I also think you are only looking at 1/2 of the equation....Who is to say that those SEC teams would even consider playing us....Look at UGA out of conference schedule....All those SEC teams have their own "best interest" in mind...To say we can or should schedule all those teams & expect to have a winning season is silly....I understand wanting to play good competition but it isn't that simple....and outside of that take a look at how far in advance schedules are determined.....I doubt we get AU back on our schedule for several years b/c we beat em!....I would say that your comments towards DRad are a bit of a knee jerk reaction....& that you've overlooked some of the necessary steps in that process....

Check out the top 10 bcs schools and list their non cup-cake schedule. You'll find that EVERY one has at least 2 gimme games !! i char

Every top ten team has at least 2 cupcakes!!

So lets see we could have a schedule that looks like this:

Alabama (Away)
Florida (Home)
Miami (Home)
North Carolina (Away)
Duke (Home)
Virginia Tech (Away)
Clemson (Away)
Auburn (Home)
Florida State (Home)
Virginia (Home)
Boston College (Away)
UGA (Home)

Yeah, this is brilliant. We will without a doubt have the toughest schedule year in and year out. I certainly don't like Samfords, but Army's and OLE Miss is fine with me. What you just suggested is moronic.

We could be coached by Lombardi with Spurrier as the OC, Stoops as the DC, Pete Carrol as the OLine Coach, Mark Richt as the QB coach, Chris Peterson as the Receivers coach, Rich Rodriguez as the Runningbacks coach, with Mike Ditka coaching the Linebackers, Nick Saban coaching the Defensive Backs and Joe Paterno coaching the DLine and we would probably still not compete in the top 10.

Oh yeah, Frank Beamer could be coaching our special teams too and we'd still not be able to compete in the top 10.

I do think that some of the in-game promos have to go. One or two is okay, but what seems like every break is ridiculous. But, I suppose all those promos and give aways equal money for the AA.

So lets see we could have a schedule that looks like this:

Alabama (Away)
Florida (Home)
Miami (Home)
North Carolina (Away)
Duke (Home)
Virginia Tech (Away)
Clemson (Away)
Auburn (Home)
Florida State (Home)
Virginia (Home)
Boston College (Away)
UGA (Home)

With the bye week falling in after Duke.

Dang, that's a hard schedule but did play seven of them in 84'

I wouldn't mind rotating UA, UALA, UT every other year though with the nad lickers and then have a couple of patsies in there. But don't forget Furman ala 83'

The thing that scares me about next year's schedule is our away games:

UGA
BC
Clemson
UNC
VT

We could very easily lose everyone of those.
