Hollis=NO CLASS

Hollis went to UVA

Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing his uva ring while he was picking his nose.

Buzz Bomb, I cancelled my subscription to the AJC when the second newspaper opened in Atlanta. After it folded, I never subscribed to the AJC again.

They have called me three or four times a year since then. It gives me the opportunity to tell them why I will not subscribe.

I tell them I will not subscribe because of their completely liberal bent to the news and because Tech is the Atlanta team and is treated second class. I always tell the caller to register my complaint and pass it back up the line.

If enough Tech fans and other readers will do the same, it will have an effect on their news coverage.

If you are referring to the Atlanta Times--you are really dating yourself.

I won'ted so bad for the times to succeed but alass they faild. and we are still stuck with the ajc and no competition. Atleast in those days Tech was the top og no pun and was treated as such by Bisher ect.

Money is the only language they understand.

You could copy and paste the articles from now on and reduce their hits.

What do you guys expect from the
AJC? I can remember when Furman
Bisher was the beat writer for GT
and he lavished the praises upon
GT. Now of course Coach Dodd had
a lot of influence on Furman.

I also remember Jack Wilkinson as
our beat writer. Jack had the
privelege of being our beat writer
during th 1990 MNC. Also wrote a great
book about the 1990 MNC year titled....
....."Focused On The Top."

Then comes along Norman Arey who many
folks on this board don't like, but I
always thought that Norman did more for
GT than any other beat writer we have
had. Lewis Grizzard even remarked that
Norman was a traitor.

The last time I checked Georgia Tech did
not have a school of journalism, so just
face it we are stuck with whoever the AJC
selects as our beat writer and odds are
is that he or she will be a graduate of
UGAG.

I agree with 2BT the journalism goes both
ways........ for and against GT and UGAG.

However, it just seems like there must be enough topics out there that some of the more negative issues could actually take a back seat in the world of journalism. Actual case in point.... we attended this years UGA/South Carolina game in Athens (parked with the RVers). One of the UGA campus school news organizations showed up with a reporter and camera asking for interview/feedback on opinions about the Adams situation and the RV parking problems that are occurring at UGA. I declined to participate (didn't think it was too smart for a Tech boy to be going into Athens and stirring up trouble). The UGA students and football fan base just seem to be ripping themselves apart over Adam/Dooley, RV parking, administration spending conduct, etc. It seems like the UGA journalists might want to give it a little rest for a while... for the benefit of their own school. Perhaps, let some of the background investigations complete and then report the news/outcome of the final reports... in lieu of constantly 'stirring the pot' until meaningful information actually becomes available.

I agree that 'objectivity' is a paramount consideration in journalism. However, reporting 'ethics' and 'emphasis' are equally important in the mind of this engineer.

I didn't even mind carol rodgers...she had sense to know that even though she was not a tech fan, writing with some rigor was a benefit to all concerned.

Until the local rag decides that the home team is important enough to give the beat to a tech version of MS...then it will remain an entry level assignment, and we will keep breaking in the bottom runger. It's really a shame, because life is afterall pretty short, and something like Cfootball season, that is supposed to be fun, can be twisted to some other purpose.

I agree w/ 2 big T that this happens to UGA as well.
