We had Soundgarden, Nirvana, Hair metal, Grunge.. today they have Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Cardi B, etc.
 
There was nothing wrong back in the day of just having a Homecoming Queen and court. This slope began when we had to have a King. That was too stupid sounding so we had to change it to Mr and Miss. And then it goes from there.

70s was a good time. Great music and time for GT. I was just a lad listening to my aunts and uncles as they listened to that music via their 8 tracks in the car or vinyl.

FWIW, there were also more females nominated. It could very well end up that men quit running for it just because females care more about this stuff in the first place.

I don’t see the point of giving 2 awards if they aren’t gendered.

Not to mention Wet Willie, Grand Funk Railroad, Three Dog Night, Little River Band, Dr Hook, et al.
 
My GT music experience was in the middle of both of those - The Clash, Pretenders, Tom Petty, Dire Straits, B-52s, Elvis Costello and who can forget...DISCO!!!

It was like that when I was there in the 90s lol. Everyone running had a greek affiliation. No one cheered for those people unless you were represented the sorority or frat that the nominee was from.
