Hotels in Tampa

We got the Comfort Inn about 1 mile from the stadium on N Dale Mabry and it has generally positive reviews. There is a Holiday Inn right next door. Also this area has a Mercedez dealership so it can't be bad.

To the person who said Microtel Inn. Read the reviews. They are horrid.

There was a time where I would have done motels like the Comfort Inn (doors open directly to the parking lot)...did it in college with piles of other students all the time. Now...with kids and a car full of crap....I like the security of a hotel with doors that open to the inside. If I can get a free breakfast for four...then that helps...and of course a gym with several treadmills so there is no wait in case of bad weather. With age...priorities change with age. In college I did not eat breakfast...I had no kids....I had a cheap car with nothing in it...and I would run outside anywhere and in any conditions because I was young and stupid.

I booked early and got the Embassy Suites for $109 2.85 miles from the stadium. It is a bayview room with a balcony...two rooms...two tv's...kitchenette. The rates sailed higher after the teams were made official....as high as $199. I was lucky.

Helpful hint...book your rooms one year in advance...you can always cancel. Sadly...I have booked rooms for the ACC Championship one year in advance ever since it started.

Thanks for all the advice, I think we are going for the Comfort Inn thats a little under a mile away.

I just got a room at the Hilton Westshore on Lois Avenue for $74. 2 Miles form the stadium with a free shuttle to and from. Will probably do taxi since son-in-law has to watch the Gator game until the end.

Just avoid any of the area around USF COmmonly know as suitcase city) and you will be ok. The North Dale Mabry hotels are generally fine, just dont go walking back into the neighborhoods behind them in Drew Park, unless you are looking for a Massage Parlor.

Micro tell might suck, but is safe.
