How do you feel about 2-1?

If you'd told me before the season we'd be 2-1 at this point I'd have been surprised. I'm pretty pleased with the way we've played overall except for fumbles and tackling. I'm not surprised by the turnovers, but I am surprised they haven't hurt us worse.

I really hope we devastate MSU next week. Mainly cause they are SEC and I want our players to be pissed after yesterday.

I want to see a thorough pounding. Like 51-7 :p

Not going to happen. MSU's defense is way too good for us to score 51 points on them. We couldn't get 51 on MSU in 160 minutes much less 60.

it does feel like the Notre Dame game a little bit...BUT...

We only scored 10 points that game (w/ Calvin Johnson) against a very bad Notre Dame defense....@ HOME!

Even with all the mistakes...we go up to BLACKSBURG and put 17 on the board in our first year running the offense.

Not upset about our play at this point.

I'm ok with 2-1 but this game felt like the ND game 2 years ago.

agreed, but now we see just how good CPJ&Co is at refocusing the team. It'd be easy to get down after a game you feel was stolen, but I don't think they'll let that happen.

I'd rather be 3-0, but 2-1 is the next best thing.

I'm thrilled our offense and defense have played BC and VT to a standstill, with both games being on the road.

VT was a hard fought loss on the road, just like FSU 5 years ago. I don't think the team is going to chalk this up as a moral victory. Being pissed off is a better think to take away from any loss. I think the offense is going to have something to prove against MSU.

I'm very pleased at 2-1, considering we're 1-1 in two tough conference road games.

Although I would have been estatic with 3-0, it may be a mixed blessing not to be....3-0 may have created premature unrealistic expectations both on the team and in the fan base.

Actually, we're playing much better at this point than I anticipated. I still worry about stinkin' up the place in a game or two, but these past two are the main ones where I expected that to happen.

Duke has the same record as us.
Yes, but who have they beaten? James Madison and Navy. If they had our schedule they would at least be 1-2 and maybe even 0-3...Jacksonville State was no bottom feeder FCS team especially with Perriloux.

Duke has the same record as us.

and what does that mean?? please explain the conclusion that can be made from your statement.

or, is this just another filler post with absolutely no information, displaying a lack of understanding about football and life in general?

obsession, you have it with me.

I don't get what you guys have against Kyle.

We could lose to anyone, including Duke, if we go -3 on turnover margin.

I seem to recall losing to Duke a few years ago because of turnovers.

Turnovers are huge. We have to stop turning the ball over.

I think its interesting to see how upset some seem to be at 2-1 (though not in this thread really). I think I remember the consensus in the spring was actually somewhat gloomy, so this is pretty good.

Think about it this way: I think we can all agree that matching last seasons record would be a decent start to the the CPJ era here. We went 7-5 (4-4) in 07. We're 2-1 (1-1) now. I'll take GW UVA and Duke (maybe debatable) as certain wins; that gets us to 5-1 (3-1). Therefore we'd only need to go 2-4 (1-3) against MSU, CU, FSU, UM, UNC and UGA.

I'd take those odds anyday. I'm happy.

Totally happy with where we're at right now. I didn't expect to win the coastal this year anyway. However, if VT manages to lose 2 games, we've still got a shot at it.

Funny thing is, they really still could. Even with Taylor I don't think they're that much better than the rest of the the ACC. While I do think they're better than anyone else remaining on their schedule, they have all their ACC road games ahead (@BC, @FSU, @Miami, @UNC) and they're not so much better that they'll be multi-score favorites every week.

That said, for the sake of the conference, they need to win at Nebraska next weekend.

I feel pretty good even though we where by far the better team this weekend in Blacksburg. I think if we improve our O line and LB play there is not a team on our schedule we cant beat.
