How I know HD doesn't know or care about anything ACC related...

I do not understand why a very few people slam HD. She is tasked with writing something every day, year round about the same topic. It is supposed to be an informal, chat room, style...which many do not understand.
She almost always says positive things about Georgia Tech.
We actually get coverage on a national platform...something we whine like babies about not getting enough of with our own AJC in years past (which has also changed).

I guess it is just easier to complain.

Because GT fans have a gigantic inferiority complex. If the media isn't writing good things about us 24/7, they're biased towards U[sic]GA/SEC/Big XII. And if there is someone who is writing good things about us, then that person must be an idiot, and we'll find the reasons why as he writes. Basically the entire world outside of GT's bubble is against us(as evidenced by people who say things like "if I want to read REAL writing, I'll go read the Technique over the fishrag.")

:laugher: You guys really do kill me.

Where is anyone saying that HD is biased?

Where did I say that? I said people would say she is an idiot. If you want to know where people are saying that...well, just search the forum for any thread mentioning "Dinich."

This sounds unfortunately correct to one whose connection to GT is as a sports fan and alumna father. As I've said before, when I started out as a fan, in the 50s, it was the pups who had the inferiority complex, not us.

Ah, I misread that. Which is unfortunate because your post didn't seem as dumb before I read it right.

You're exaggerating the situation a great deal. There's no denying that on some levels this fan base has an inferiority complex but the only place that people call out as being anti-Tech is mostly the AJC, and often for good reason. There are other writers that have written negative things about us, but typically they are called idiots for it and we move along.

Get a grip. Nobody called Heather an idiot for giving us positive press - it's unfortunate that it had to come from someone that basically became a joke last year.

Tech fans often nitpick and blow things out of proportion (For example, your own post) but Heather has a history of poor, sometimes apparently clueless writing and that's what most of the ridicule comes from.

If she wants to give us a compliment, great! Maybe she can do that and improve at her job simultaneously. The only thing that's ridiculous about all this is the people that get so butt-hurt because we're not giving her a statue next to Heisman's.

A few of the reasons she gets ridiculed like she does:

FSU is 2-1 in ACC road games this year, but would be 3-0 had it not been for their loss at Georgia Tech.

http://www.stingtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27960&highlight=Dinich - Looky there, gth816f to Heather's rescue again.

Jeff (Villa Rica, GA): Georgia Tech rolled over the little bulldogs of the SEC. If they can play the way they did with no turnovers that they can have a chance with the UGA bulldogs this year?

SportsNation Heather Dinich: I feel like I get this question no matter who Georgia Tech plays the week before. No, Georgia is a national championship contender. The Yellow Jackets are a Coastal Division contender. Big difference.

http://www.stingtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26378&highlight=Dinich - This is about the time gth816f began devoting his life to Heather.

And this is what she won him with:

..and Georgia Tech and Boston College better handle a new-and-improved Notre Dame..

* Paul Johnson will call more passing plays than he did at Navy.

But ... Georgia Tech will fumble the ball better than anyone and practices quickly close to the

public.

She's not biased, she compliments us a decent amount, she's not the worst thing out there, she's no Terence Moore and she has improved over the last few months.

But clearly there are plenty of reasons to have fun at her expense. Maybe if you understood that we weren't trying to burn her at the stake then you'd stop getting so bothered every time someone chuckles at the mention of her name.

This has nothing to do with HD's coverage of GT.

Did you read the linked article?

I understand exactly what she is supposed to be doing and what her tone is supposed to be.

My point, and the article shows it pretty clearly(but you have to open the link to see this), is that she sucks at it and could give a rats a$$ about the ACC(her sole area of coverage).

It isn't necessarily that she doesn't care about the ACC, it's that she (at least) isn't working very hard at her job in the offseason. I read the other bloggers and all of theirs didn't just say what they thought was good, they listed the stuff that their conference fans would use when arguing with other conference's fans. I'd say this is mostly a case of lazyness. If I put 30 min to one hours thought into it I could write a long list with a paragraph per point. She looks like she took 10 min to write this (5 to think of stuff and 5 to write it our).

There are few writers who write multiple articles per day who won't look bad when you comb their writing for every factual inaccuracy. Maybe Heather is worse than most, I wouldn't know because I don't follow the other conference's blogs as closely as I follow the ACC's.

My point is that because she is so positive towards us, I wouldn't be going over her articles looking for every inaccuracy and then calling her an idiot and bringing it up every possible chance. Yes, you can do that, and yes, everything you say might be valid. But when you have someone who really likes your program and gives it good press consistently, why would you want to try to make her look bad? I suppose you said it's fun for you...I guess that's where we differ. I don't find making fun of our supporters enjoyable. We'll probably never agree on this.

And that's why this is so pathetic - you think you're being noble and contributing to our image by being careful not to offend someone who wrote some positive blurbs about us.

But what is it exactly that makes you think she "really likes" our program? She has 12 schools she can write about. We are currently one of the hotter stories of all of them and there isn't really anything negative that can be said about us right now. She's giving us the only press she can. I'm glad to get it however it comes for the most part, but stop pretending that she's in love with us.

She's a neutral observer and provided she keeps the job long enough, I'm sure we'll see her say some things that we view as slights just as much as we're seeing praise right now.

I like her just fine. She's cute enough, likes Johnson, and enjoys the triple option.

Cut the girl some slack.

I'm not being careful not to offend anyone. It's just that any time an article she wrote is even mentioned here, the insults start coming and eventually take over the thread, and they're not even funny or witty. It's just insults for the sake of insults "LOL YOU COULD LAND A PLANE ON HER FIVEHEAD." So I'm just reciprocating by letting people know it's annoying and I don't think she is that bad, and it's stupid to be overly critical of her at every single possible chance.

Hell, if someone disagrees with her, great. Let's hear it. But the "OH MAN, SHE BROKE HER LINE IN THE WRONG PLACE AND FORGOT AN APOSTROPHE" thing over and over again is dumb.

this thread is pointless...who gives a $hit....to be honest, I could give a rats ass what an Indiana Female grad thinks about the ACC...she doesnt know what the hell she is talking about....i can crap better journalism than that

This * infinity... This is my major gripe with her... I expect more in-depth coverage from the Worldwide Leader in Sports... I assume this is her primary job - how hard would it have been to write up more than a sentence per point?

Which is the whole point of this thread. Half the people on here can crap better journalism than what she puts out.

She is supposed to be representing and covering the the ACC(not just for US, but for the whole country) and she is just downright awful at it.

This has nothing to do with her coverage or favoritism of GT. Go search her name on some of the other ACC scout boards, it's not just us that thinks she sucks.

And while I totally agree w/ u...i just choose not to get my panties in a wad about it...i just dont read it...she obviously isn't putting time or effort into her job and I'm sure it will come back to bite her in the ass when the retards at espn finally fire her....she is obviously blowing the right person

You come off as a little obsessed.

He may be obsessed with your obsession, but you still post on this one subject too much. I don't think most find your clever barbs as entertaining as you imagine.

A player that led another D-1 team in rushing joins the nations 4th ranked rushing offense, and he is not a newcomer to watch??
The underlying problem is that knowing of the existence of Anthony Allen requires research.
