So I didn’t get to see the press conference but I’m having a hard time reconciling the board’s split reaction of “used car salesman” vs “gave me a boner”

I haven't seen the press conference either, but I'm guessing it has to do with "I'm too smart to get caught up in shit high schoolers like/college kids get pumped about".

I thought Russell was a-ok, but I wanted it gone because recruits hated it. Even worse than CPJ haters are the "Tech is too good for X" fans, where X is any dumb shit that 16-23 year olds like.

We weren't as in your face about it before. Its one thing to tell kids, look you have a better chance of making something of yourself with a Tech degree vs. Those other schools are not giving you a real degree, live in front of the whole nation. That's the difference. Salesmanship.
