How many wins next season?

I bought into Coach Collins' schtick enough last spring to drop $2500.00 on tickets this year.... I will be glad when the losses stop along with the excuses and the blaming. Combine the passive aggressive criticism of the former regime with the ridiculous sideline antics and it’s getting tough to watch or really be very interested.

As for recruiting, facts are inconvenient things. Coach Collins has only four commitments from the top fifty players in Georgia, the highest being #22, two play the same position, and none of them are linemen. In fact, it will be a close call if Tech can keep one of those four. Second, Tech is ranked so high because of the number of commitments, not the high ranking of those players. Third, with (I believe) only eight graduating seniors on scholarship and twenty three commitments, some of those players who have "bought in" (including multiple walk-ons who have started many games this year) will not have a scholarship available next year. Despite the proclaimed need to "get bigger," Coach Collins' first (and only) commitment for 2021 is 5'9" and 165 lbs.

We pick up Notre Dame, Syracuse and Central Florida next year for a much tougher schedule, so 3 and 9 might be an unachievable goal next year. Coach Collins is a master of excuses, but I fear we will always be at least three years away from the Promised Land (which is what for Coach Collins?). It can only be Coach Paul Johnson's fault for so long. I sincerely hope I am wrong. The Coach Collins Era looks more like Coach Bill Lewis Era every day!
 
I buy season tickets every season. Big ööööing whoop, you spent $2500. If you don't like Collins, you can spend your money on a cruise or go to PCB.
 
If we win 3 games next year I wouldn’t let Collins the building, anything less than a bowl game will be a huge disappointment.

In Bobby Ross's first year here, he went 2-9 with no conference wins. He did so with a young but talented offensive line and a 5th year quarterback who would go on to the NFL. (Collins went 3-9 his first season with 2 conference wins, with a walk-on offensive and defensive line and a freshman quarterback.)

In Bobby Ross's second year here, he went 3-8 with no conference wins.

At this point, pandajacket wouldn't let Ross the building. Huge disappointment.

So he misses out on 26-9-1, two bowl wins when bowls meant something, a conference championship, and a national championship. And a coupla wins over Georgie.

Good thing pandajacket wasn't there to not let Ross the building.

There was an improvement in his second season, if we win 4 and are competitive then it’s fine but I’m still not gonna be thrilled. It’s more about the context of what happens.

It’s the same like 7-8 Betas over and over. They all are total whiney cucks who have such low self-confidence that they can’t live in their pathetic little lives without the instant gratification of Tech justifying their existence by making a low-tier bowl game every season that they can fap about. They also refuse to acknowledge that their beloved Paul Johnson was losing in a major way on the recruiting trail and with the younger generation of fans. They see where Collins has a different style that appears to resonate with recruits and youth, so they try to undermine him by touting tradition and calling Collins a slimy used car salesman.

Despite all of that, they are Tech fans so I assume they are intelligent people. I’m sure at some point they’ll take a logical look at the size deficiencies, the injuries, the youth, the walk-ons, the new schemes and all of those other things that hit this season and realize maybe this was not the best environment to judge our new coaching staff. Improvement will start with better recruiting, which will show up as improved size, speed, length, athleticism, etc, then eventually will result in improved on field results and BUZZ around a program that was really on the decline the last few years under CPJ.

This is spot on. I keep hearing what a great recruiter GC is.......that we have "the 25th ranked class". Collins was a great recruiter at Alabama but anybody can recruit there. He only recruited for 2 years at Temple and they declined in average wins per year from 10 to 7.5. As far as the 25th ranked class.....yet to be seen but I would bet it will end up closer to 40 that 25. Hope I am wrong but thank you for pointing out these things that many will choose to ignore.

If Adams hadn’t tragically passed away, CBK could’ve convinced Braun to stay, and the other transfers came through, there’s a good chance we are bowling this year.

Don’t underestimate what a little mature talent can do for a team.

You are wrong. Sure that you think you know everything but let me repeat, you are wrong. Bobby Ross did not have canned and scripted responses. He was fiery and very motivated. His first trip to Clemson was a disaster but coming off of the field he said to the Clemson fans, "we'll be back and we'll be better". Unlike our current coach who has said over and over that the score does not matter, it is all about the process, Coach Ross was here to win and had not only the commitment to do so but also the coaching skills to accomplish that. Our current coach is a PR/hype machine and has not shown that he is a good football coach.

So if the recruiting class completely falls off the cliff and the worst happens....we will have a slightly higher rated class than most of CPJ's classes ("closer to 40")? That is the cut down for CGC?
 
I agree Coach Geoff Collins is not even close to who and what Coach Bobby Ross was at Georgia Tech. I love the wishful thinking, but it is clearly a stretch to think CGC is close to GOL!

Bobby Ross: was the 16th head football coach at The Citadel and held that position for five seasons, from 1973 until 1977. He was the head coach at Maryland from 1982-1986. He won three consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships from 1983 to 1985. After four years, Ross left Maryland and was introduced as head coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. on Jan. 5, 1987. As head coach of Georgia Tech in 1990, he led the Jackets to an 11–0–1 record and the ACC championship—the school's first conference title since 1952, while they were still in the Southeastern Conference. They also won a share of the national championship by finishing first in the final Coaches' Poll. Ross won the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award and the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award.

Geoff Collins: Secured his first head coaching job in December 2016 when he was named Matt Rhule's successor at Temple and inherited a team that finished 10-4. In 2017 Coach Collins went 7-6 and in 2018 he went 8-5 (with a loss to an FCS). On December 7, 2018, Collins was named the 20th head coach of Georgia Tech football. Coach Collins had previously worked at Georgia Tech as a graduate assistant under George O’Leary from 1999-2000 and in 2007, recruited the highest-ranked class at Georgia Tech for Chan Gailey. Coach Collins’ first game as Georgia Tech head coach was against Clemson where the Yellow Jackets lost 52-14. Coach Collins also suffered his second loss to a FCS team as a head coach. The Citadel pulled off an upset of Georgia Tech, beating the Yellow Jackets 27-24 in overtime. Tech also lost to Temple, where Collins previously was the head coach. On November 16, 2019, Collins led Georgia Tech to its first home shut out loss since 1957. On November 30, 2019, Geoff Collins led Georgia Tech to its worst loss ever to hated in-state rival Georgia losing 52-7.
