huge recruiting breakdown

Izaan cross - another guy from Flowery Branch. He's 6 ft 4 and weighs around 250. Has a very impressive offer list. But the few times I have seen him he didn't really impress me that much. In the state championship he didn't really stand out. Has just ok speed. Seems like he has a good body frame that he can put some weight on. Could be moved inside later on. Does have a great motor and seems to get better s the game goes on. He will RS. 3 starts. FYI remember the name imani cross.

I said the same thing about Philip Wheeler after watching him play in the Dome his senior year. He played DE and I left very unimpressed. What I didn't realize at the time is that the other team pretty much ran away from him all game. Its hard to judge how a kid will translate from HS to college. DE's and CB's are especially hard because the really good ones often don't get a chance during the game because offenses can take them out of the game by going away from them.

Julian burnett - has really great instincts and athletics. His instincts really stand out when watching film on him. Seems to learn how to read plays and is a very smart football player. He is a bit undersized at 5 ft 10. He is a tackling machine. Brings the pain when he tackles. Really believe he has great potential. He reminds me a lot of Curran from GA. The only weakness I have seen from Burnett is his speed. Is not great but its not awful either. Will more than likely red shirt. High 3 star.

J.C Lanier - our highest rated commit on the defense side of the ball. He is a really big guy. About 6 ft 4 and he has slimmed down to 325. He is very dominate on the d line. Has good moves to get to the QB. Is a plug in the middle. Is really a great run stopper. The only drawback is his speed. But you can't expect a guy his size to be really fast. With him and T.J Barnes in the middle we have a lot of beef. I see J.C getting some playing time his freshman year. I give him a high 4 star.

Carl miles - very late pickup. I don't think he was the top choice for DB but he surely wasn't the last one. Has decent size for his position. Needs to bulk up some as he is very thin. He is ok in converage. Really good when the ball is in the air. Seems to locate the ball well and knock it down. Has a good vertical at about 33 inch. Good speed at 4.46. Seems decent in run coverage and is a good tackler. Will redshirt. Low 3 star.

Roderick sweeting - STUD. Has a great list of offers. He had offers from almost any school he wanted. He is about 6 ft and up to about 180 now. Needs to add some more weight. But he has great speed. He has a great vertical. Probably around 40 inch. He is excellent in coverage. Can shut down a guy one on one. He is the shutdown corner we are looking for. Haven't really seen a weakness in any of his film. I think he may have a chance to compete for playing time his freshman year. Tough to tell. I say he is a 5 star.

sweeting is the real deal! He is definately 5-star worthy...I watched the Offense Defense All-American Bowl on tv, GT represented well ( Stephen Hill, Jordan Luallen, Roderick Sweeting, and Antonio Foster), and saw Sweeting blow up a 6'8" 260 pound tight end going to Ohio State. I mean he absolutely leveled the kid. He was playing Safety and he played it like it was his natural position. Is Lance Richardson up next? He is my favorite recruit this year!

Lance Richardson - great find! From watching film on him I cannot believe he doesn't have a plethora of offers. I remember reading PJ watched less then 5 minutes of film and was ready to offer him. Richardson played for a small 1a school. He had over 1000 yards on offense and 25 touchdowns. On defense he had more than 80 tackles and 7 ints. He can really bring the pain when he tackles. Everytime he tackles he is trying to kill the guy. Very smart guy who was known to read the plays. Has decent speed. Is a really hard worker. He is good in coverage. Has very good hands for a DB. Will redshirt because of depth. 4 star.

One common thread in the class: Not afraid of contact. We have a group of hard-nosed players coming. Seemingly no prima-donnas.

Extremely solid class. We really filled many needs. I expect the 2010 class to be higher rated, but expect stiff challenges from the 2009 class before those guys see the field.

Thank you gt23eric. Very great read. I actually have cut and pasted all of your comments so I could print them out. Thank you again.

Jemea Thomas - another great sleeper. Like many of our players he played both ways in high school. He could end up playing a back. FSU made a strong push for him but we were able to hold them off. This dude has some wheels on him. He is very fast. Also a great punt returner which we really need. Plays good in coverage. Has good hands for safety. Once again another kid that lays the wood. Seems like he is always near the ball. He is a bit undersized at safety but makes up for it with his vertical and range of skills. Most likely will redshirt this year. I rate him as a high 3 star.

FYI remember the name imani cross.
for how long?!!! i'm not good with names!:laugher:

thanks man. this is awesome.

and what is the story with this b.j. bostic? does someone have his pic in their avatar? i went and looked him up on scout and was thinking i'd seen the pic before. maybe they did a story on him recently?

Imani is only a freshmen. We do lead for bostic as of now. Would be a big pickup.
