I’m not even mad.

Not sure why folks thought
Cards on the table, I was drinking and at a bar with a bunch of people, so maybe I am being crazy. But here's what I saw that made me hopeful:

Of course there are still problems, starting with CGC's gameday decision making first and foremost, and followed closely by punting. But we should be 2-2 come the end of September, and we have a real good shot of being 3-1.

Lock Geoff (Jeff) in the equipment room before each game and we have a shot at getting a few wins

1. Pass protection seemed decent, which would make it the best pass protection we've had since CGC has been here. More often than not, Sims had an actual pocket to throw from, and receivers had time to run their routes. Not every time, of course -- but Clemson is a top defense and in past years it felt like the pocket was regularly collapsing immediately, or not even forming.

2. Defense was great right up until the amazing pitch play by Clemson's QB. Unfortunately it did fall apart after that, but from what I saw, the defense came to play. It wasn't just Clemson shooting themselves in the foot that kept us in the game so long.

3. Kicking (not punting.) Kickoffs in the endzone and nice distance on the FG attempts. Seems like we might have a normal kicking game this season, which would be the first time since when, 2014?

Re: your post
1. Yes, partly. Aside from the first play, we took no shots downfield which got the ball out quicker than the rush could get home. Jordan Williams was getting beaten outright, consistently. It shouldn't take 7 to block 4, but we still failed at doing that at times. Still, there were some better pockets than we've seen previously.
2. The more I think about it, the more worried I am that it was simply Clemson calling a conservative game plan on offense.
3. Ok

I’m not sure why anyone is mad about Clemson letting the backup air it out against us. That’s his job. Our job is to not let the backup air it out. We are the ones who didn’t do our job. Hell, had they let the backup play the whole game, we would have lost by 70 because he actually has good mechanics and can consistently hit guys in stride.

We looked improved, good enough to make a bowl. Just have to get back up and keep fighting.

Our players weren't even trying to cover their receivers by the time their backup was in.

I don’t really care at this point. Things are that bad. We have a complete moron of a coach who has been clowned by the announcers at least twice in the last 3 games. We went over 10 quarters of football without scoring a TD. I never thought I’d be apathetic about Tech football, but Geoff made sure that happened.
And yet, here you are, making a thread about it

öööö Dabo. I wasn’t mad until the last few minutes with the backup airing it out.

It is what it is.

You can always count on Dabo giving all the coachs' sons and underdog walk-ons their touches at the end of a game. I'm not mad. They keep their backups game-ready. It's smart. That backup QB will likely take the reigns before the season is over. Use games like this to see what he's got.

Be more mad that our coach decided it was better to just burn the 4th quarter (and end of the 2nd quarter) and go home sooner than to even attempt to score or get our backups any meaningful reps. Sims will get hurt at some point and we will have to play a QB that has zero meaningful experience in a critical situation.
