I am starting to warm up to JT

I was going to chime in with my agreement and the reasons for it, and then I remembered my post from Sept. 2006, which is repeated below. I'm not sure JT and GT are the best fit, but I am 100% sure he'll be a great head coach somewhere, someday:

"Tenuta does NOT hate the media, the fans, recruiting, etc. He has very strong opinions about what a head coach should do versus a coordinator versus an assistant.

He's been working toward becoming a head coach for 25+ years. At almost 50, he does not want to start below the BCS level. He would take a job at any BCS conference school, and the Big10 would probably be his first choice.

Tenuta is very smart and very intense. He can and has recruited very successfully at times during his career, but not since he became a coordinator (except to seal the deal).

Ask Glenn Spencer if he liked coaching with Tenuta. Ask Giff or BJ. He might be the most well-liked person on the coaching staff by fellow coaches, staff and certainly by players at GT. If you're ever in the stadium for pre-game warm-ups, watch the coaches from the opposing team seek Jon out, laughing and talking. He knows everybody in the business, and he is not only well respected but also well liked by his peers.

Will he ever get a serious look because of his reputation? I don't know, but if Ralph Friedgen, who is 1000X more misanthropic than Tenuta, can get a BCS job, Tenuta should be able to. And he wants it. And he deserves it. And I would be happy for him but hate it for us."

Stick...I have definetly noticed the same thing pre-game about Tenuta..He is who everyone is talking to and seems to have a lot of admiration from others...

I don't agree with your assessment that Tenuta would be bad for us...I think our team will take on his tough guy image..

Like I said before, if we can't get the 1 or 2 guy's that are on the A list of Drad (Supposedly Jimbo and 1 other) I would go with Tenuta...I get a feeling that this is what may happen..Similar to what Miami did in their process last year..Although I think Tenuta will be much better than Shannon as a head coach.

At THIS point, because of his connection to ccg, I am not sure JT fits the criteria as listed by DRad.

But, I do trust DRad.

Good post Stick. Totally agree

I really hope JT stays and brings Coach Spencer back to the flats. That would be great for us. The new staff needs SOMEBODY with a serious GT background and insight into the Tech tradition. Not to mention local grassroots. THat'd be Glenn Spencer! He won't be unemployed for long

I don't agree with your assessment that Tenuta would be bad for us...

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA! I never said or meant to imply that JT would be "bad for us"! To the contrary, he'd be my first choice, not just among all candidates mentioned thus far, but period. I just believe there might be other schools that would suit him better, but maybe we've been too worried about "fit" for too long.

To clarify:

Stick said in his old post that he'd be sad if JT got a HC job, because at the time he was operating under the assumption that any HC job Tenuta got wouldn't be at Tech.

That's where the confusion came from.
