and i could be wrong, that Coach Dodd was the HC and Athletic Director for a few years. If we let Stansbury go, along with Collins we could offer AD money and HC money to a real football coach.

PJ moved to ARI to retire and golf. His name doesn't pop up on anyone's HC radar. The guy is clearly retired and enjoying it and doesn't appear to have any interest in returning to an HC job, must less the added PITA of being an AD.

Not to mention (again) that the blocking rule changes are killing the ability to successfully run the TO.

No way in this day and age I want my head football coach spending as much time elsewhere as is required by the AD. That's way too much on one plate.

Both coaching and AD-ing are far more time intensive these days. No way it would work.

The invention of cut blocking is credited as having been invented in the late 1970's. The origins of the TO was in the mid 60's. How was the triple option executed back in those days? Legit question, I don't know. There's a number of variations of the TO, I don't imagine that they all use cut blocking, but I could be wrong

Not possible anymore. The amount of time coaches need to dedicate to recruiting has increased exponentially since then, and the amount of hob-nobbing AD's have to do to fundraise has, too.

And come on... We can afford both.

I believe the hey day of the TO was the wishbone and no I don't think it depended on cut blocking. Cut blocking in the option came as a compensation for inferior lines after the option fell out of fashion. In the hey day the best teams in the country were running the wishbone and they didn't need to cut block due to their talent level.

did you not see his Hawaii offenses? nobody gives a öööö about blocking. he works with what he has.
