I called it...Vick indicted

The main thing is Vick LIED to Commish Goddell and that's a no no. He will get suspended for that alone. By the way, he is a sick bastard and should get the penalty laid before him.

This is not a laughing matter! Our season is in trouble now....

I stuck with Vick longer than most of my buddies, but I was almost totally out after the water bottle and this is it. Vick has to be done here in Atlanta. This season is not looking good at all.

Why are the Falcons and Hawks so damn snake bit? We see 'Nique leave for nothing, Favre goes on to a HoF career, Deion wins super bowls, Jam Anderson blows up both knees, Hawks make more stupid trades, Vick breaks leg before big season, Mora is a dud, Vick flicks off fans, hides a James Bond water bottle for his "bling", and allegedly tortures and kills dogs?

Did I mention that the Hawks made Jon Koncak the highest paid player in the NBA at the time?

A telling Q&A type article concerning Vick's situation:

I found the take regarding the three co-defendants to be interesting --you know at least one, if not all three, will be looking for a deal. Of course I'm sure these three low-lifes might be lacking a bit in the witness credibility department.

It's not even the off the field stuff that bothers me about Vick - he's now responsible for the firing of 2 head coaches directly through his public comments (and indirectly by his play on the field). He admitted to quitting in the final game of the season when the Falcons got hammered by Carolina (40-something to <10). Flipping off the fans.

My final straw wasn't necessarily the water bottle issue (really, a non-issue) but it was about the same time when he publicly blasted his offensive coordinator and HC (whether or not they deserved it is irrelevant).

IMHO, it is management. The Braves stumbled around for many years before bringing in a management team that made them champs for fourteen(?) straight.

The Falcons and Hawks have spent big bucks but so has the Fed Gov't. It's how the bucks are spent that gets it done.

Just my opinion.

That's what a professional attorney who is dotting the I's and crossing the T's does vs. an elected hack pandering for votes.

I don't think Nifong was EVER elected. He was appointed after spending his entire career in the DA's office.

He may have run as the incumbant, but I believe this was going to be his first election.

Nifong was appointed to fill the remaining term of an elected DA who took a judgeship. He was elected to his own first term during the Duke lax fiasco. I don't know if he ever actually was sworn in on his own term or not.

This has NOTHING to do w/Tech football.

Stimulating subject but it should be in it's proper forum.

Vick is a 4.2 moron. Arthur Blank must be incensed beyond medication. Unbelievable. Guilty or not.

I hope they all do time.

I'm much the same way. This is hitting me pretty hard. I'm not giving up yet, and I still believe in innocent until proven guilty, but I'm not going to be speaking up in defense of him anymore.

I still think he can be a great qb, and I hold out hope for a great season(if he plays), but I have to tell you...that Vick for Oakland's #1 pick while keeping Schaubb, looks a lot better to me now.

Have no fear, we still got DJ

I know that's a joke and no one from the gold and white thinks he'll ever be capable, but I'd like to think he'll get a look as a contributor this season.

Joey Harrington has 66 starts under his belt, so I'd say he's the next in line.

Au contraire, dog-breath. This G & W thinks like you do on this one. DJ doesn't quite have Vick's speed, arm and experience but he may have enough plus the intangibles (head on straight) to make it. He made the cut last year at a fairly deep QB position. We'll know more after August.

The Falcon's deserve what they got. They knew Vick wasn't a model citizen from the entire Ron Mexico affair and then they gave him the benefit of the doubt when he told them he had nothing to do with the dog fighting.

The end result will be that teams will do additional screening because they can't afford to lose players like Vick, Pacman, or Tank Williams. When they had problems with qb's who couldn't memorize the playbook, they started giving the Wunderlich test. Now they'll give an ethics test.

I hope you're referring to the dogs he allegedly mistreated, not one Mr. Michael Vick.

Well...more the Falcons season...can't say I'm too emotionally attached to Vick. As for dog fighting...it's not like I didn't know this stuff goes on. Worse stuff than this happens everyday...not that it doesn't disgust me. I saw some of the video on CNN and it's pretty disturbing.

You bring up a really good point. I know that MV is getting exta attention because he's a high profile athlete, but some people I've heard in the media seem to be more outraged at this than at others who murder people. I'm not making any excuses for MV, but I think it says something about a society that almost seems to care more for animals than for human life.

People have become numb to murder. I have to think that a good majority of the murders are the gang on gang type, thug on thug type, etc. You see much more outrage over a senseless murder - see that girl up in kentucky or wherever it was. But most of the murders don't impact people that much. I would actually understand it more if Vick had shot someone.

The deal with animals is that they are viewed as completely defenseless. MV (allegedly mind you) took these puppies since birth, trained them to be killers, and if they lost, he killed them himself. No regard for the life of the animal. Killed other animals along the way as well just training his main dogs to kill. It's just sickening to think about.

To me, it comes down to if you are a pet person or not. I myself am. I cannot imagine anything like this happening to my dogs. My dogs live in the house with us, sleep in the bed sometimes, travel with us, etc. I love to see my dogs get excited when I put on the running shoes because they know they get to go. I love how excited they get when they get to the beach and can smell the ocean. I love how excited they get at the first hint of cold weather in the fall. I love it when they just give you a look, and you KNOW that something is going on inside that head. To me, a dog is more than just some animal. It is a part of my family. Non pet people can't seem to understand that though. To them, it is just something put on the earth to work, protect, tie up in the backyard.
