Detroit Lions 0-16. Worst record since the Bucs finished 0-14 back in '76 as an expansion team.

I understand how the NFL draft works. Crappy teams are supposed to get better draft picks so that they get a fair shot of improving. But just damn. CJ deserves to be on a better team.

He is, but I'll bet he would would take a little pay cut to be on a winning team. I feel horrible for the guy.

At least he had a really good year, especially considering the crap QB menagerie in Detroit. Of course we'll probably be watching Stafford toss passes to him next year.

BTW, I love the UGA fans saying Stafford should stay so he won't have to play for the Lions. As if they're not going to have a top 3 draft pick next year again.

I don't think stafford will be drafted that high. He doesn't win big games. Ever. Minus maybe the young UF team they beat last year, name a time he Teabow'd or Bradford his way to a finish? Matt Ryan won big games, games they had no right to win. Ryan=winner. Stafford=Loser.

That isn't UGA bias, its looking at him as a guy with no real heart, just lots of talent.

On a seperate note, The falcons should trade the lions Mike Vick. He would win them at least 4 games next year by himself. Also, he would never win them more than 6. he is a freak like that.

The lions need to quit wasting all their top picks on skill positions.

I don't really disagree, but if Stafford goes pro and Bradford doesn't, Stafford will be the best QB in the draft, and that almost always means he'll go in the top few picks. Alex Smith is an example of this.

And also, while I hate the guy, Stafford had a great game against us this year. It wasn't his fault UGA couldn't stop us in the 2nd half.

I wouldn't just hand that to Stafford. From what I hear a lot of NFL scouts like Colt McCoy, if he goes pro.

McCoy's said a couple of times the past few weeks that he's not going pro this year. Obviously that could change, but I'm taking him at his word and leaving him out of the mix for now.

If Calvin stays in shape he'll have 12-14 good years. Somebody else will pay him just as much when his contract is up. By definition, that team will be better than Detroit (since everybody is). All that this is going to do is let people say when he is done, with his ridiculous career stats, "Wow, and to think he started with 4 years in Detroit - how good could his numbers have been with a good team during that stretch?"

Having part of your career impeded adds to your mystique - think Sandy Koufax.

What scout said that?

I have searched many scout sites....and Bradford/Stafford are 1/2 and 2/1 in every one I have seen that included eligibile underclassmen. Both were considered to be Top 5 overall picks in almost every mock draft I saw.

USA Today had a tale of the tape comparison with the Lions against the '76 Bucs. When they mentioned Calvin they already threw out

"Calvin Johnson (Future Hall of Famer?)"

He will end up on a good team in a few years, or being one of the main reasons Detroit turns it around eventually.

Next year's draft is GREAT for the Falcons and any other team who is set at the QB position.

There is a plethora of really good QB's available in the draft this summer...most of which are likely to be taken early on.

With the Falcons probably looking at a mid/late 1st Rd pick....I'm really looking forward to watching Dimitroff rake in some serious steals this summer.

Dont worry about Calvin. As soon as Hizenga sells the Dolphins, Bill Parcells becomes a free agent and gets to walk with the remainder of his contract payout no strings attached. He will take over Detroit because its an even bigger challenge than the dolphins and he thrives on that.

Bradford's going to Detroit. Matt's gonna get to enjoy the Chan Gailey offense in KC.

The Lions are actually poised for great improvement if anyone with a clue takes over.

In addition to favorable picks in every round they have the picks that Dallas traded for Roy Williams. with some wheeling and dealing on draft day the talent level could get a quantum improvement across the board.
