I hate Georgia

"oh whoop-de-****ing doo, you won the ______ BCS Bowl, but guess what, YOU DIDN'T BEAT US cause the SEC is still better, nerds!"

Quote from a UGAgger after our 1 loss season and top bowl win (loss to uga).

If you do not despise Georgia above all others, wish for their destruction every sunday, and worry about not beating them the next time we play them, I will ask that you remove yourself from the ranks of Tech fans.

That is the most important game of the year.

And don't give me the "Oh, Effin crap dude who died and made you in charge of being able to say who can be a Tech fan?"

CAN IT!

In the fall of 1972 I received my acceptance letter to Georgia Tech. A lifelong Auburn fan, I knew in that moment I was going to Tech. Even turned down a Naval Academy appointment that came later that Spring - I was going to Tech.

Immediately, something powerful came over me. I started hating the DAWGS! Dooley, Munson, Sylvester Boler, Loren Young, Buzzy Rozenberg, Ray Goff, Matt Robinson, Glynn Harrison, my girlfriend on game days - I hated them all. Still do. I developed strong love for the Gators when they played the DAWGS in Jacksonville. The ridiculous picture of Craig Herwtig partying in Jacksonville defined my disdain for all things from Athens. The obsession continues.

I will seek no counseling to remove this obsession. It has been a healthy passion for me and all of my jolly good fellows. When my obsession with UGA fades my family will know my mind is eroding and will need to make plans for my care. And should Saint Peter greet me at the gate by saying, "What's the good word?", you know what my answer will be!

Win every game. Win the ACC. Win the national title. All are worthy goals. But, diminish our passionate hatred of the DAWGS - never!

11 Preseason games. One that matters.

Hating Georgia and loving Georgia Tech are one and the same. The schools motto isn't "To Hell with the ACC!" We don't drop battle axes on UNC's head. There aren't book written about our heated rivalry with Duke. It's not that don't want to win a national title, I just want beat Georgia more.

Of course I agree that it would be better to sell out the other games. What I'm saying is that deemphasizing the UGA game won't accomplish that and really has nothing to do with selling tickets. We just need more interest in the program generally. You can't expect people to get up for the Duke game like they do for the UGA game. That's unrealistic and, frankly, would be emotionally exhausting. Let me put it to you this way: People who believe that I should care as much about every game on the schedule as I care about the UGA game don't really comprehend how much I care about the UGA game and probably do not even care as much about the Duke game as I do anyway.

On November 29, 2008, there were two big games being played at the same time. One game was the Tech/GA game in Athens. The other game I'm talking about was UVA @ Virginia Tech. The Tech/UGA game had NO IMPACT WHATSOEVER on the ACC Championship race whereas Georgia Tech's hopes of winning the ACC hinged on the other game. Are you saying that I should have cared more on that day about the UVA @ VT game than the Tech @ UGA game?

Is this a serious question?

You talk about Tech fans in third person as if you are not one of them. If anything that is certainly the impression you give. Do you go to Tech? Did you go to Tech? I sure don't think so and if you are going to go to Tech in the future you will get it then. If not things are sorely wrong at the Institute.

I would rather be a nerd than a redneck any day. What's the good word? TO HELL WITH GEORGIA above all else!!! That is how Tech fans think. If you don't think that then you are not a true Tech fan. I'm not saying you should quit posting and stop coming to football games but I am saying you better learn to hate the Mutts fast because that is a requirement.

This probably isn't exactly what you want but is enjoyable nonetheless:

Who put the guy on the right in charge? Chip?

(this is an inside joke)

they could care less to talk about us, and yet there is a thread once a week, year round, talking about georgia and how much everyone hates them.

Im concerned more with championships, you dont go to a BCS bowl because you beat UGA.

So let me get this straight. They don't talk about us. In the last 20 years we are only 6-14 against them. Not good. During that period, we've won one national championship. So apparently, you think they could care less about us.

So, I guess, given the thought put into your post you buy their argument that UF is their biggest rival. U[sic]GA is 4-16 against them. And UF has won 3 national championships during that period. As of course, we all know, they haven't won one during that period.

I wonder if they have a rival under your logic. You accept their logic that we aren't good enough to be their rival, and assume that they do not talk about us, while accepting their argument that they are good enough to be UF's rivals. I can see why you have so many dawgie friends. If took in that much BS everyday I'd own Mayfield dairies.

As to obsession, it is rather hypocritical for anyone who posts on a college football message board to call out others on such a point. If you take college football that seriously, just as I do, then you must simply accept that not everything is rational, not everything must be or can be rational, and that the sport is not best served by rationality.
