Yeah there are some negatives, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the positives. Beamer and Foster and the other titty babies and their bratty fans deserve failure. Take a moment and enjoy it.

I was pulling for VPI all through the game, but I will say that I will now take some joy in the misery of VPI and their fans. I wonder what sort of complaint Beamerbawl will be filing with the Big Ten+2 office about the officiating in the game.

The only good thing about tonight is if VT gets their ass handed to them 3-4 more times this season. As Tampabay pointed out, that will make BSU win less relevant.

VT was a 9-3 team before this game and is still a 9-3 team. Until we're ranked in the top 10, I'm not going to go crazy about who-beats-who in week 1. VT was ranked 4th in the country when we played them last year after their loss to Alabama. BFD on implications, it was a fun game to watch.

Agreed. I don't care about ACC perception as much as I do about winning our own games. Getting into the big game is as much luck as anything else. Ask Florida from 2007, who wasn't going until USC got upset big-time by UCLA. Ask LSU from 2008, who wasn't going until WVU choked to Pitt. Conference perception isn't the be-all-end-all way into the MNC game.

Yep, just ask Boise State who went undefeated last year and pretty much the past three or four years as well.

If we're in a more respected conference, we get the upper hand on those in lower conferences and our wins mean more. Who cares if we beat an unranked Miami or FSU? If VT had beaten Boise (and UNC had beaten LSU, and I'll continue by assuming that FSU will lose to tOSU), it would have been huge. If they lost a few more ACC games, we'd be respected as a tough conference. Now VT will come back and sweep through the ACC and beat out some teams and prove that they're the equivalent of being the smartest kid with down's syndrome.

My point is that conference perception plays a huge role in where our "ceiling" is as far as jumping teams in the polls that have the same record.
