I is worried about disss

Good. Players are not compensated nearly enough for the amount of revenue they generate.

If the lawsuit goes to court and wins I don't think it will change the game for end users. People will make the replica rosters just like they do now. EA will probably keep the ratings for certain "positions" accurate. Instead of changing just the names, users will now have to change names, numbers, and possibly height/weights. But just like 2010 and previous years, there will uploaded accurate rosters within a week of the game being released I would bet.

The problem is that even if they keep the ratings the same, it is a tremendous hassle for the people that edit rosters to change all (or even just most) of the players appearances to match the actual players. Last year, the edited rosters were available the same night of release (because someone got the game early.) This year, EA made a lot of changes to the players to make them not resemble their actual counterparts, and the rosters weren't available until the end of the first week after release.

For the people that count minutes to the release of the game, waiting a week is a long time, and it will be even longer if they make more changes because of this.

It ****ing blows.

They should just give all the players $2000 stipends or whatever and then they could use their actual names.

This rule wouldn't affect things like current athletes in present day games. It deals with former student athletes whose likenesses are still being used in marketing materials, "all time great" video game teams, highlight packages, etc.

They are basically forced to sign away their image rights in perpetuity rather than just for the time they are an amateur athlete.

Isn't this supposed to be posted on the "frivolous lawsuit of the day" thread?

GT would have to eliminate several sports teams if everyone shared that sentiment. We are in the red as it is. Imagine having to pay athletes too. Ridiculous.
