I love Joe Hamilton

Spurrier

Not questioning Joe's knowledge, just saying that it would be odd IMO for someone who has never even coached before to suddenly be the QB coach at a major program.
Didn't Steve do that at Florida?

Well he spent some time in the pros first didn't he? Joe knocked around some but Spurrier was an active pro much longer iirc.

I don't have a problem with it at all. Joe has been a Pro QB. The nfl is so far removed from college ball that having that experience need not be important.

Plus, Spurrier was a retched NFL qb, and a retched nfl coach. He did win the Heisman and Joe should have.
Based on this logic, Joe = Tech QB coach.

Plus, Joe has a Masters from StonyBrook according to his old coach. ;)

There was a good article in the Tampa paper about Joe getting a chance again under Tony Dungy a few years back. Payton Manning said when asked about Joe that if he was 6'1 or 6'2 everyone would be talking about him instead of Mike Vick.He said he thought he was that good. It is a shame he never had a chance to really play in the NFL. I watched him in the preseason when he was drafted by Tampa and he looked great. Size just killed him.

If they measured heart instead of height, Payton/Peyton Manning might be an assistant qb coach at ut.

Hmm? I wasn't meaning to question your spelling of P...... manning. Based on the tv commercial, I think it is pAyton.
He still needs to prove his mettle though.

Well, Spurrier did have a 10 year pro career, so wretched or not he had plenty of time to learn how the game is played. Like I said, nothing against Joe, but most teams don't hire QB coaches who haven't coached before, especially now with the limits on staff, etc.
