I saw Athlon\'s is out already...

I picked up a copy off the bookstore rack the other night. Unfortunately, it was SEC version. We don't get the ACC version over in West Georgia. Anyway, now that I've got Athlon's and Lindy's, I'm gonna do a little advance writeup about Vandy next week some time. It's too early probably, but what the hell.

Bug. I for one am GLAD you're doing that homework. We should always be focused on our next opponent and it keeps the discussion going. Tech baseball (in all its glory) will be over in about two weeks (if we go all the way). That leaves us with a long, hot, boring summer to get ready for football. Keep the GT football discussion going no matter what!

BTW Stingtalkers, being that I'm in the Fla. panhandle we don't get the ACC versions of the big magazines (Lindy's, Athlon) for awhile. Please keep us posted on when they hit the newstands in your area so that we can look for them in the days/weeks to follow.

I noticed in the National Athlon that the rated our LBs as the #2 unit in the nation and our DBs as the #10 unit in the nation. Both of those rankings were tops in the ACC. I'm not sure about the DB ranking, but I certainly agree with the LBs.

The Athlon ACC edition has an interview with Coach 'Buck' Gailey in it. It has this direct quote from 'Buck': "My job is to be head coach and to do head coach things." Sounds like he really has a good grasp on things already!?!

Also, it talks about his mentor and buddy, Ken Hatfield, who he apparently patterns himself after. Ask any Climpsum fan how glad they were to have Hatfield as head coach, and if any of them would like to have him back.

Athlon's preseason all-ACC team has NO GT linebackers, nor does any of their 3 strings of all-America teams. I guess the whole is greater than the parts.

My hopes are high. I hope the season matches my hopes. I don't look for many of the magazines to ranks us very high. I think they are taking a wait-and-see approach, which is less risky for them at this time.

I will be watching the board at times, but will be off the board a lot until after July. We have a contract on the home in Ellijay, and the schedule is to close the third week in July.

We are busy packing and taking pickup loads of boxes to Jackson, Georgia in preparation for the move of the furniture. Somebody else will have to take up the slack and keep BeeWare amused while I am away from the board.

Thanks for the well-wishes. We will be living temporarily in an apartment behind my daughter's home until we can buy or build.

We will not be pushed and can take our time to decide the best plan.

I think it is great we are not getting the recognition. We stunk as frontrunners last year, so we need all the motivation we can get.

I noticed that Athlon's was high on UGA linebackers. Personally, I like our corps just as good or ever better. When Daryl Smith is healthy, he's as good as any LB in the country.
