I saw Chuck Norris fetch Matt Ryan his water bottle.

Personally, I blame BOR for our loss! He needs to come up with a much better pre-game doom-and-gloom post to ensure a win in Charlottesville --BOR's effort last week was completely pathetic and unacceptable, but I forgive him...Mike :)

Beej, you need to sig this quote for the entire season.

You're the one that said signatures are gay, why do you keep (this is twice now) telling me to sig other people's stuff? Sig it yourself. It's not like I've got a patent on the idea of quotes in sigs or anything.

UGA is more important to me on a personal level than any other game we ever play, in any year, at all. I'm with BOR on this one. Beating UGA is every bit as important as winning an ACC Championship.

I knew it was over when they scored on a 95 yard drive on their first possession. I knew it would become a shootout at that point and we didn't have the firepower to fight back.

Kyle,

Did you go home when you knew it was over? If not, why not?

Thanks,
Crew

Seriously Kyle, when you get old and boring like me, you will have seen a lot of games where a team scores on the first posession only to lose 100+/- to 7. I don't want to take anything away from a nice first drive, but they play 60 minutes for a reason.

Look at FSU-Clem from this year. Clemson DOMINATED the first half far more than BC did us and if those two had played 70 minutes FSU would've won.

BOR is in fine form.

I don't live in GA anymore. Living in VA I want to win the ACC most. If I lived with the toothless masses I would feel different. Although I would probably just pretend that basketball is the greatest sport... (I recommend this tack with the unwashed just for sanity's sake BOR)

UGA is just slightly behind winning a championship to me. I think that I am in the majority, but BOR and the minority are awful noisy.

BOR, you do have some pull as an active alumni. If you really care about beating UGA, you need to get the game moved to early in the season IMHO.

Fwiw, I don't quit watching until they quit playing. There have been games I quit watching early, because the players quit playing early, but this was not one of them.

I'm not in the minority. That is why the influential alumni (of which I am not one) feel like me.

BOR, I'll believe that you are in the majority when I see the game moved to the first game.

I don't like to be a pessimist, but unless someting radical happens (like a recreation & leisure i.e. John Madden NFL 2008 major) I don't see how the dogs don't continue to consistently eek out fourth quarter comeback wins using their superior depth.

That tells me that winning the ga game isn't the end-all-be-all to the big donors.

Perhaps the ACC championship is less important than both. You may be right about priorities, but I dismiss your excuses about which is more important. Teams are described as Name: # of MNCs: # of conference crowns. We even display our bowl games. The BBall team raises banners for accomplishments like championships and postseason bids. We do not raise a banner for beating Duke. It takes an insecurity complex to define ourselves around one game.

If what you say is true, we need to add plaques or banners, or flags commemorating the wins over ga.

Let me respond by saying this:

Name how many times we won a National Championship when we didn't beat UGA.

Name how many times we won a conference crown when we didn't beat UGA.

Name a time when we won a MAJOR bowl game when we didn't beat UGA.

Ok, I rest my case.

It is this mentality that has completely plagued some of our fan base and even it seems to plague the players and the coaching staff.

UGA is important. You cannot be successful at the National Level if you cannot beat your in-state rival.

.....just so you can be rationalize to yourself losing to UGA in the future.

Completely pathetic and unacceptable attitude for being a fan of Georgia Tech.

I took out some stuff to make the quote smaller. Not sure exactly what my words are, but ill restate my opinion. I think I left out a couple important points :p

Is THIS Georgia Tech team a national contender? No. They are not. We are by no means efficient enough through the air to be able to compete nationally. Im not blaming ANYTHING on TB. I would say more of his imcompletes this week were dropped than were thrown bad.

Teams KNOW we are going to blitz. Teams KNOW we are going to run. Its hard to compete like that. Sadly, thats about our only options, as proved Saturday.

I'm not interested in basing the entire season off of one game. I would love to beat UGA just to not hear the retarded fans run their mouth for an entire year. I care nothing about bragging rights because I feel that we win classier than they do, and thats what matters.

IMO, we need to focus on conference championships first. When we get that down, then we can worry about a national one.

*puts on flame suit*

BOR --I believe-- is articulating that defeating UGA is part of the package when it comes to winning MNC's and conference titles --so not only is it important to defeat UGA from an in-state rivalry standpoint, it's something that must be achieved in order to aspire to reaching more loftier goals (particularly true when both teams were in the same conference)

BOR is pretty much right on with his proclamation:

Name how many times we won a National Championship when we didn't beat UGA.

none (note: teams did not meet in 1917)

Name how many times we won a conference crown when we didn't beat UGA.

none (note: teams did not meet in 1917-1922)
interesting stat: GT has defeated UGA 10 times on their way to a conference c'ship/co-c'ship --with five of those wins being shut-outs.

Name a time when we won a MAJOR bowl game when we didn't beat UGA.

GT has played in 12 'big four' bowl games, losing only twice to UGA while doing so (note: major bowls being Cotton, Orange, Rose, Sugar). Lost 34-0 in '42 on the way to a 20-18 Sugar Bowl win over Tulsa --also 1966, 23-14 and lost to UF in the Orange.
